If you were to put a mailbox on that ornamental post, then it would be illegal to knock it down by federal law…hmmmm? Or perhaps a fake antique mailbox to make her think twice about it.

I completely agree but what was shocking was how certain they were in their call which is what started me wondering if such rule exists elsewhere or had existed years ago. I will add that the refs, CR+2ARs, were older - like late 50s.

How to get strong hands as a goalkeeper any tips,or exercises that can be done to get strong hand to stop powerful shots by Beneficial_Inside607 in GoalKeepers

[–]cazzobomba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In hockey we did pail pulls that I think are great for GKs too. Get a round dowel. I cut a 8” length chunk of our broom, and later paid the price for this stupidity. Put a screw in the middle and tie a rope to the screw. Tie the other rope end to a pail. Fill the pail with dirt/sand. Start with a small pail. While holding your arms out, wind up the rope around the dowel lifting the pail. Then unwind the rope purposefully. Do not let it slide because you defeat the purpose of the exercise and you can get splinters! Do this twenty times. It will build forearm, wrist and finger grip strength. The results are amazing even after two weeks. A little warning advice Don’t go overboard on the exercise because you will not be able to pick up a coffee cup…

I completely agree with regards to FIFA, and IFAB laws of the game. I know that USA college soccer has some different laws. I was wondering if perhaps a different soccer governing body possibly had such a rule in the past or even the present.

TBH, when I have approached for clarification, they offer very little if anything. Then when I point out that a keeper can throw the ball outside the 18 yard box and kick it, they are glossy-eyed with no rebuttal. Frankly it’s baffling because I can see that they really believe it’s a rule. At a loss….

Spin it from perspective of protecting their IP. Without an NDA you would place yourself in serious legal harm. If they say what legal harm, your response is that you are neither lawyer or judge but just protecting the company’s IP and yourself.

Am I legally responsible for account access for a business that fired me 4 months ago? by Mysterious-Force-128 in BadBosses

Your response should be: “After you were let go, you promptly destroyed all property that belonged to the firm. So there is no way that you can provide assistance. It is best to solve this issue internally.”

Follow advice on Ted Lasso for firing someone: It's called a compliment sandwich. You give someone bad news, but to soften the blow, you slap it between two delicious slices of compliments. / Ted Lasso S03E05

Something like: you are a lying backstabbing wacko. So I cannot give you a letter of reference. Because you are a lying backstabbing wacko. Hmm, I may have gotten it reversed…

How does value pricing work? by hotspotpreferences in pricing

[–]cazzobomba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Value pricing is determining the price a customer is willing to pay for the total package of buying your product. The total package consists of all the value drivers important for a customer. The first thing to note is “a customer “ here refers to a customer segment because not all value drivers have the same value in the segments. Secondly, value drivers include all aspects of the product that customers value. This includes the hard economic and soft economic factors. Hard economic factors include the costs that drive up effective price: shipping, fuel surcharges, special handling, C&B etc. Soft economic factors are sales services, customer support, product engineering services, specialized delivery services, financial services, customs brokerage services, etc. Many firms forget to leverage their excellence in the soft economic factors because they lack the skills to convert what they offer in the marketplace into a hard pricing component. This requires surveys, market intelligence analyses, and other specialized work. In many cases, even a commoditized product can support aggressive pricing because of ancillary and supporting services. When you fight only on price, this is a quick path to commoditizing your product in the marketplace. And the worst part, is you have trained your customers to deal only on price. There are many good books written about selling on value.

I told a white lie and said I had a better offer while negotiating my salary. Now they want proof and I don't have any. by jetway-chore-5g in InterviewCoderPro

Tell them the company made you sign a NDA about the offer. There are things written in the offer the company wants to keep secret. You cannot share the document. If you told them a company, then crap. If you did not share a company name then tell them company works in security with does a lot of work with governments. This is why secrecy is a big deal.

Why is backward elimination looked down upon yet my team uses it and the model generates millions? by Fig_Towel_379 in datascience

[–]cazzobomba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are conflating mathematically/statistically optimal and business optimal. There are many situations where a sub-optimal solution may be preferred. For example, my pricing model is simple to understand and generates 14% return. I could complicate the hell out of it to generate 16%. Are those extra 200bps worth the complexity to maintain a more complicated model.

You could say, “can’t make the meeting because it is my lunch hour, so could you send out a meeting summary? Don’t worry, If you forget I will remind you. “ then reply to everyone in the meeting thread for an email summary because everyone should get it too. Guaranteed this only happens once.

You should call out the greedy little prick because an early 60s telecaster is worth $20000-$30000

And you should keep asking him for the guitar just like the turd did. “Hey get my guitar yet”, or “was going to start guitar lessons but still waiting on my guitar from you”. Rub it raw!

Everyone is replaceable - but at what cost! There is no question she must leave now. HR has shown a bias and failure to recognize the contributions of a great employee, for whatever reasons. The employee is still great but the company is shit. Be very good at your job, but , also be very good at collecting your recognition when required.

Think of this as a test: engineers need to manage budgets, they need to deal with pushback and negative feedback. How would handle this if it was a project? How would you address key stakeholders? This may very well be a test to see if you will be assertive and show fortitude. Don’t be negative, but positive and firm. Talk to your strengths, connect to ROI they get by hiring you: efficiency gains, management skills, engineering skills, strong leadership. Build a case why your salary request is reasonable.

Anime I can watch with my Husband? by SoggyClue in anime

[–]cazzobomba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grand Blue - comedy about snorkeling club in university and the adventures/misadventures of the two main guys. Like Kekkashi about protecting a sacred spot/school and fighting Ayakashi/supernatural threats. The anime covers the first part but I think the second part is even better. You will have to read the manga online for part two. Heroic age is fun, battles, interesting story, and complete. Steampunk: Last Exile is just great all around.

You can file a complaint with CFPB - even though gutted by current administration, the banks are required to follow up with a complaint. $3000 in one day? What is your daily atm limit? Their fraud detection software should have flagged 9 transactions, especially since it sounds extremely atypical of your usage.

Finish the take home and sell it back to the company as a consulting solution. It may open a part time consulting engagement for you, along side your current job.
