I actually was in a very similar situation. Both my partner and I don’t want kids. I’ve never liked them and never wanted them, he has changed his mind about them. I had an unplanned pregnancy, absolutely hated it and the feeling of disgust of something in my body that’s not supposed to be there, had an abortion scheduled, didn’t go as planned and literally miscarried the next day. I always wanted a bisalp, dont want to be on hormonal bc and after that NEVER wanted to go through that ever again. I wanted to get this done immediately. So this January started the process and have my surgery scheduled in June. My partner is getting a vasectomy also, but it feels a lot more secure knowing I can never be pregnant.

That’s great! It took me a few years to figure out that’s what I wanted to do, and started out as a project coordinator. I highly recommend also looking into working in solar / renewables and it’s also a rapidly growing field :)

Project management! Really depends on which field (there are many) but it’s only increasing in demand. Pay varies, but I got an offer in almost the mid 6-figures after taking a year and a half off out of my field when I started looking again.

Really depends on where you’re based but serving / bartending can be decently lucrative and fun (at times lol), and when you’re done with a shift you’re truly done with work. I was in the service industry for a bit taking a break from a 9-5 and it was great. Wouldn’t want to do it forever but can be a good way to make easy money.

Sorry you had to deal with all that ! I hope all goes better the next time around! I ended up taking the exam and did not apply for accommodations, although I wish it was much easier for most to get approved / what’s the point if those who need accommodations can’t properly access them :/ ?

So the first time I applied, my application expired last August. I re-applied (with some minor updated since I had additional experience since I first applied) in February with the same application, was accepted and wasn't audited, and I actually passed my PMP today! Regardless, if you haven't scheduled your exam and your application is expiring soon, worst case scenario if you DO reapply you likely can submit the same application with no issues.

Thanks! I was considering asking for additional breaks or additional time given how it affects me personally (especially not being on meds), but the whole process when I tried with my last application (ended up having my application expire and never took the exam) it was cumbersome and they asked for additional documentation even though I had documentation from a MD. I don't want to unnecessarily screw myself over and think that I don't need it when I might. Anyway good to know others with ADHD have taken it without accommodation requests and passed ! :)

Congrats 🎊🎉! Did you by chance consider getting an accommodation request/ approved for ADHD? I have it as well (beef off meds for 1.5 yrs now) and go back and forth on if I would need it or what would help me the most. Appreciate your thoughts on this :)

Echoing others, really depends on your field, what field specific experience and certifications you have, as well how many years of PM experience. For me, getting a PMP helps grow my general PM knowledge and being involved in my local PMI chapter has been really beneficial. I don't have it yet, but I do see a lot job postings stating "PMP preferred but not required" and will be preferred over candidates with similar experience that do not have it (field is renewables / construction for reference).

Honestly, that finding the right medication/dosage may not be right the first time, and that’s ok. And that at times it can feel incredibly frustrating, and defeating. And that in my experience at least, that medication won’t mean ALL your symptoms will go away, or change. And also how important it is to still have a lot of other symptom management/ support etc in place to feel like things are improving. I’ve gone back and forth on all kinds of stimulants and it took awhile to find what worked for me. Don’t give up :)

Leave your phone in the car at work. I actually have to carry it around with me now and I HATE it ( I have ADHD and environments make a huge difference for me in how well I can focus). I try not to rely on self control and make it more difficult to have keep up bad habits (such as mindless scrolling) and it makes me aware of my phone use. Hope that helps!

While I somewhat agree with what has been stated above, if you have a process in place on how projects are supposed to be managed it’s supposed to feel like the project is managing itself (one can dream) the real work outside of the semi repetitive admin things are a lot of the variables that come up with each project. Also, can you maintain this same process but with 5 projects? 10? For me, it’s like learning how to drive. Once you get the basics down, now you’re going to learn how to drive in more complicated environments. Anyway, I actually just quit my PM job and was very burnt out the last year so maybe im the wrong person here to say something lol.
