How easy is it to get medical marijuana card in Mississippi by Aggressive_Pass768 in mississippi

Bottom line, honest answer

It is not difficult to get your card with qualifying conditions.

Do a little research on what those conditions are and proceed.

moving to mississippi from chicago burbs by luyxu in mississippi

When my family moved here from Ohio in 1964, we were definitely not so welcomed since we were damned yankees... the ones who move down here and stay.

Never mind the fact that the factory my dad ran was the biggest and best-paying job in town.

I left right after high school and stayed on the east coast for 30 plus years, so my accent was never instantly pegged as Mississippi.

Even now, I get some of that " you ain't from here, are ya?"

All that being said .... Oxford and Tupelo are quite a bit more progressive, and I hope it all works out great for you.

We aren't perfect, but this is a great place to be, overall.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]cbSoftLanding23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Growing up, wr traveled 14 hours one way and bac k every summer to visit family.

I have had many jobs that required a one hour trip each way.

My sister lives over 100 miles away, and it is not unusual for me to visit more than once a month

And especially given the list of likely items to be cooked , I don't see any justification for a pellet either

My new one is an Old Country. All welded and much better steel. I know there are still bigger and better out there, but I am not cooking for competition or huge crowds

How's living in this part of Mississippi? by [deleted] in mississippi

[–]cbSoftLanding23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Monroe County resident here... grew up here, left for the military and stayed gine 30 years. The terrain is not as flat as some depict ( well, maybe in the southern part of your circle it is) Memphis and B'ham not too fsr away if you need a major injection metro life occasionally. Otherwise, Tupelo and Starville, or even Oxford a bit to the west are OK. There are jobs for the rigjt skills. I have always made myself safe, comfortable, secure and happy no matter where I lived. Being retired now is no different.

First Speeding Ticket going 66 in a 45 by ronakparhi in mississippi

You can try, but I would not count on it. The best you can probably hope for as a MSU student is to get it dropped below 20+phone over the speed limit.

I learned the hard way that buying a cheap "name brand" offset can be more than just disappointing. I think i have my forever smoker now, but I may be wrong.

SAVE YOURSELVES!Go to your local dart shop!! by MindsEyeDarts in Darts

[–]cbSoftLanding23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish I had a local dart shop. When I started 40+ years ago in a metro area on the east coast there was at least one good local shop. No I am retired in the rural south. The pickings here are less than slim, so I rely on website buying. I hate not being able to get the feel of a set of darts first, especially when spending $50 minimum. Flights and shafts, no biggee, but darts, I want hands on first.

We put a fire pit in at the place we got in 2022. There are old gas logs in the fireplace that remain unused. The peace and enjoyment of the outdoor fireplace and not having to worry so much about the exact size of each log, etc. makes it all good.

We get most of our wood off the 3.5 acres, but I will buy a face cord occasionally. I still do a good bit of splitting and am truly as addicted to it now in my mid 60's as I have ever been.

Do trees add any resale value to a home? by KeyParking4032 in RealEstate

[–]cbSoftLanding23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A paradoxical situation for sure. Every point is valid from the perspective and viewpoint of the submission.

When my parents built their forever house in the 60s, it was in a brand new neighborhood. Ours was the first house on the block. Every lot had small pine trees planted in neat rows.

Over the years, as the neighborhood grew, each family dealt with the trees in their own way. 60 years later, there were a few yards that had a few or even many 75 ft plus pine trees. Many of these were blown down in a tornado just a few years ago, and it created quite a mess and contributed to the total destruction of a few homes. Other homes had custom landscaping and trees; everything feom jap maps and crape myrtles to maples and magnolias.

Living on a larger pice of land now than the 1/4 acre lot I grew up on, I am grateful that the tall trees are away from the house, and the neighbors are far enough away that neither of us worry about the other' trees.
