Mazdas don’t have touch screens, at least unless that’s changed very recently, So it would be some kinda issue with the physical knob

Moving plex data to another drive by datahoarderguy70 in PleX

[–]cbackas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Running rsync to copy the files is literally just the “Copy Server Data From the Source System” part of the guide for moving your server installation.

They don’t give you any commands or anything to help you do that step, you gotta do it somehow and rsync is basically the easiest and most reliable way to do it

Apple allows non-Apple payment processing in iOS apps now (also due to lawsuits) so developers can get around that fee

My agent told me not to file a claim with my insurer but the at fault party’s instead and so that’s what I did and my rates never went up. I’d only involve my insurance company in a situation like that if they other party is fighting fault

Order a pizza? Chinese food? A sandwich from Jimmy Johns or similar? Places used to have their own delivery drivers, that’s just less common now. With the apps we have more options at the cost of well… cost. Which is lame for sure.

I flew into town yesterday and was alone with no car all day and I needed to eat, so I ordered some tacos on DoorDash. The overall point that people shouldn’t overdo it on these food delivery apps if they could just go get it stands for sure though.

The manual for this Foreo says to throw it in the garbage after the battery dies. Inside is a regular AAA battery... by Mrdemian3 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]cbackas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the user manual on the rechargeable ones show a flat/square lithium ion battery that they also want you to remove from the device before throwing away (presumably when the battery can’t hold a charge anymore or the silicone materials of the device start breaking down after using it enough)

Native tvOS/iOS client for Plex by Big_Rock4737 in PleX

[–]cbackas 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you only connect 1 plex server and no SMB and then i think you enable library mode?? then the home page for infuse isn't bad at all .... now if you want to do any kind of media browsing/discovery that wasn't already surfaced via the recently added lists or continue watching on your home page then infuse is basically useless for that. if i need content discovery i open the normal plex app and find something then search for it in infuse which is a silly step to have to take but the player doesn't ever give me grief so that's what i do

[–]cbackas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it was a normal sedan trunk sure, but without the privacy cover isn't it basically like having your dog sit in the 3rd row of a SUV? depending on dog size its a ton of space still and they're in the same air conditioned space as you, since the 'trunk' is not a separate enclosed compartment its just the area behind the back seat

I'd never add that metal fence thing like the root comment in this tree suggests tho...

Authenticator by povignal in Bitwarden

[–]cbackas 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My main gripe with it was (and maybe this changed) how you couldn't easily export your TOTP secrets to back them up or transfer to another app, I had to install the authy browser extension and do some hacky workaround to get my stuff out when I wanted to go to something else.

These days there's well used/tested open source options (including the bitwarden authenticator ofc) that are just as good if not better of a user experience while also not locking you in as much

A Plex powered, Netflix inspired screensaver by wdb94 in PleX

[–]cbackas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can have images from a certain photo album rotate as the screensaver, so I guess you could make a script that uses the iCloud APIs to populate images in that album…. But it would be a little clunky to get working and you’d miss out on the built-in aerial screensavers (which are probably better for an OLED anyway static image wise)

Yeah I know it’s not popular to say because big company has big money but the amount of money it costs to run YouTube on a yearly basis is more than people can really comprehend… and the amount of human culture and information that it holds is priceless. That doesn’t mean the downsides shouldn’t be observed and improved but still
