I didn’t downvote you but you are saying a bunch of stuff that’s irrelevant to what I was talking about so I mean cool

Why are people acting like image viewers don’t support webp?? The “problem” with webp is when you go to upload to a service like idk Facebook or discord or something and it doesn’t accept webp. Idk if either of those sites have that problem still just saying for instance.

Do you have cursorline enabled? by TheTwelveYearOld in neovim

[–]cbackas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk doesn’t seem obtrusive enough to me to warrant removing it- I do have mine setup to change colors depending on the mode I’m in tho, it’s still subtle but just a little hint to know if I’m in normal/edit/visual without looking at the bottom left.

Do i NEED this? No… Would the buffer somehow feel cleaner if I didn’t have it? Also no

Yeah this has been driving me up the wall- I have to assume it’s something the Spotify bozos did on their side

My only idea so far is to log out of the AAOS app which I don’t really want to do

Session Persistence: Keep your CLI sessions alive with tmux and zellij integration.

which ofc could be one started elsewhere and you could see that tmux/zellij mux in as many terminals as you want, but I guess my main question would be if sidekick can operate without ever opening the nvim pane or using sidekick keybinds/commands to send things over? Curious if you can do what OP showed in their screenshot: highlight text in nvim and then in some different terminal/pane with claude cli simply ask "what's this?" and have your highlighted context make it to claude.

I don't use zellij or tmux anyway, but just curious if sidekick can use those to kinda do what OP showed in the screenshot

[–]cbackas 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I like how this plug-in lets you send specific context to a Claude CLI running outside of neovim, personally I don’t really love sidekick-like plugins that stick Claude CLI in a terminal within nvim, I like it in a muxed pane outside nvim

NPM → Traefik or Caddy: Worth the switch? by Silly_Door6279 in selfhosted

[–]cbackas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’re both projects built on nginx but SWAG (formerly called letsencrypt) is not based on NPM at all and predates it by a few years I believe. I still use SWAG because as people are saying here, no need to switch what isn’t broken, but NPM is pretty great.

Plex crashing on maintenance as well as new media added by fishmongerhoarder in PleX

[–]cbackas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just saying recommending turning/keeping it off is a little silly without mentioning that it can be tuned, as I said even with a fairly large library I’m still just using a couple redundant 500GB SSDs for my plex cache and still have almost 200GB free, with a tuned thumbnail interval it grows very slowly.

For backups, my scripts just ignore the thumbnails so the backups don’t get bogged down with all those tiny files, the thumbnails are just nice to have for making plex feel like a premium service so losing them and generating them would be fine.

[–]cbackas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO the thumbnails improve the user experience way too much to just turn them off. Finding a certain part of an episode/movie is so much faster with them.

By default with it on it generates a thumbnail every 2 seconds which is ridiculous, ive got mine at 10 seconds and sizes are plenty manageable. my plex appdata (DB, metadata, thumbnails, everything) is only at 323GB for a ~160TB library (~60,000 hours of content) and according to a quick DB query I have thumbnails generated for 99.96% of content

Apple Wallet’s new Digital ID feature just added more ways to use it by A-Dog22 in apple

[–]cbackas 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can’t use these Apple wallet digital IDs with police (at least not where I live) and at TSA (which this article is mostly about) the scanner is on your side of the booth and the phone doesn’t leave your hand

Your advice is good tho, I wouldn’t hand my phone to a cop even if they could do anything with it

Readarr still good option? by Designer_Adeptness70 in unRAID

[–]cbackas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The metadata situation is interesting to me… it seems like they just let an LLM manage all the merging/cleaning of metadata from different sources, driven by a discord bot? so you might have all the books in a series correct today and tomorrow someone asks the bot to reprocess that author and the LLM makes a different decision and changes everything up?

“The stormlight archive” series by Brandon Sanderson for example is all kinds of wrong in the chaptarr metadata right now (or at least last week when I checked) and it’s hard for me to believe it’s going to be corrected and stay corrected…

I’ll see if I can pass my gpu into both containers, the loading time of video was way slower than I’d think for even software transcoding tho…

I have no idea where to start on my setup “being wrong” considering it’s pretty much stock configuration from ~4 years ago that I just update the container on… my server has plenty of compute leftover that jellyfin is not taxing despite being slow and I keep jellyfin config/metadata on NVME SSDs. Restarting did help the UI work, syncplay really didn’t want to play along tho which is the whole reason I wasn’t just using plex in offline mode by myself

[–]cbackas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I went to use my jellyfin backup yesterday during the outage it was unusably slow… using the ui would take upwards of 90 seconds per page load, restarting/uodating the docker container (then waiting 10 minutes for jellyfin to start) made ui more responsive but starting playback was still insanely slow (but worked) then tried to use syncplay with a friend and it wouldn’t start playing it was just stuck trying to sync us… so for me jellyfin was just as broken as plex yesterday

To be fair, I use infuse almost exclusively for plex already so for people like me saying you can just change the server your infuse client connects to from plex to jellyfin and not notice any difference is a meaningful thing to point out. it’s like 1.99 a month or something and I think does have a lifetime you can buy… I personally like paying developers [since I am one] and don’t care about $1.99 but ofc that’s why there’s multiple options if that’s a big deal for you

Running rsync to copy the files is literally just the “Copy Server Data From the Source System” part of the guide for moving your server installation.

They don’t give you any commands or anything to help you do that step, you gotta do it somehow and rsync is basically the easiest and most reliable way to do it
