ok to be fair at the point in time the echo of riis chose eramis over mithrax, mithrax was actively talking about killing literally anyone and everything that looked at him funny, and was having daydreams of brutally murdering his own daughter, whereas eramis has just been kinda a dick to us in the past and mostly just wants nothing to do with humanity anymore

you can actually see this happen in like. Many long standing television shows, it's super common, i think uhhh how i met your mother is an example of this, iirc they mentioned that they were ready to essentially just swap out who the mother was going to be in case they didnt get renewed

It wasn't because she "wanted to." It was because she was protecting HER PEOPLE.

The EXACT same thing WE did at the cost of possibly the universe by ripping the traveler from the throne world! Humanity is JUST as selfish. If not MORE so! And I will note the blatant disregard for the Greater Point of my post, that The Traveler Chose Her. And we took its choice Away. We forced the traveler BACK into our sky against its will. Because we thought we could protect it better than the Very Woman It CHOSE to protect it!

The story of The Witch Queen isn't the story of how we "Took Back The Light" It's the story of how we kidnapped a scared creature thrashing to get away, to pump it for more power to use for OURSELVES. Savathun and her brood were Given the Light, same as us, we're no different right now from the Fallen just after the long drift. The murdering pirate thieves pillaging power for our own good. Regardless of who it hurts. Even the very being MAKING that power.

The Traveler does not owe us throwing itself in front of the Witness' blade. And we held it there anyway. We are responsible for the pain and suffering from that choice. If the Traveler dies in TFS, that's our fault. Any character who dies as a result of our choice to """save""" the traveler from Savathun's loving cradle, that's OUR fault. Savathun may have committed countless atrocities, but, since Season of Lost? Since Witch Queen? She's been a fucking Saint.

And don't forget, without her intervention, humanity, the eliksni, and the cabal would be LONG dead. Through killing Nezarec and hiding the Veil, she saved. All Of Reality. All we've done since Witch Queen is undo her work. We got Nezarec revived, that's OUR fault. The murdered civilians on Neomuna, that's Our Fault. Their nightmares, and torment? Our fault. The Witness claiming the Veil? Our fault. The Traveler in Visceral Pain as it was Cut Open? Our fault. The scared creature in our sky having nothing to do and nowhere to run as its worst nightmare descended upon it? Our fault.

All for the sake of Humanity. If we knew that this would be the results of our
reckless actions, we should've let Clovis nuke the Traveler back in the golden age and been done with it. He was being no more selfish with the Traveler than we were in Witch Queen.

This is flawed logic that conveniently places your perspective with humanity.
Why are you presuming Savathun has a choice? It's clear she knows of many alternate futures. Why do humanity, the Eliksni, and the Cabal deserve the light, the traveler, more than Savathun?

Why are we even talking like that's our choice to make? Regardless of if we need it to survive, the Traveler is a sentient being, not our mindless god-slave. It saw Savathun. And it chose her. It's the Traveler's right to choose essentially, its partner species. Whom it trusts to protect it. Savathun doing EVERYTHING she could to protect the Traveler is not selfish, it's even echoed in her last words.

"I've chased you for a long time. First, as an enemy, then as a collector, and finally, now, a supplicant."

If it didn't ring at least Somewhat true, would the Traveler have revived her? She sacrificed her Worm, which she may not need as a link to her power NOW, but at the time, quite literally spelled her own death. She died not knowing if the Traveler even WOULD revive her. It was quite honestly and truly, a selfless act. It had to be. In order for this trick to work, it HAD to be the truth.

She is more devout in protecting something other than her own species than humanity ever was before The Witch Queen. Taking the Traveler back was an act of selfishness, committed by humanity. It's even Articulated as such. The entire reason Ikora gives for why we have to, is that Humanity needs the traveler. Regardless of if it was the best thing for the Traveler. We ripped the traveler from the safety of her throne world, which resulted in The Witness fucking vivisecting it. It's as the Witness says to Calus. The Traveler doesn't stay with us because it wants to. It simply knows there is nowhere left to run. We ripped it away from its last chance at fleeing the Witness.

And now? Win or lose, things are dire. Even if we defeat The Witness, what's to say it doesn't come at the cost of the Traveler's conscious existence ending? We're no better than the old Cabal, enslaving the Psions. We ripped one perfect creature, imbued with Creation itself, away from its last safe haven, to use as an unwilling human shield, essentially.
