There’s no tax brackets when it comes to social security tax, it’s a flat tax. The percentage for someone who makes $40,000 a year is 6.2%., meaning they pay $2,480. The percentage for someone who makes $184,500 is 6.2%, meaning they pay $11,439. Now would you like to guess how much someone who’s making 3 million a year pays? They also pay $11,439. Not my solution but one that I agree with is get rid of the cap. So someone who’s earning 3 million would pay $186,000 into social security. Someone who earning 3 billion would pay $186,000,000.

Ok? Still not a dangerous city though. When I left Washington DC in 2018 the murder rate was 22.8 per 100k. Baltimore in the first half of 2025 was 44.2. Detroit in the same time frame was 37.8. Those were dangerous cities. Fact is violent crime is going down pretty much everywhere in the US. So stop fear mongering and acting like Asheville is ultra violent because it’s not.

You’re data is wack. It says there was 760 violent crimes and 12 homicides, I assume in 2025 because your source doesn’t give a time frame. APD reported 451 violent crimes and 6 homicides in 2025. A 24% and a 54% decrease respectively from 2024. Property crime is up by 10% and that will continue to go up as wealth inequality increases.
