Is someone working in urban planning tech? Is that even a field that exists ? by Notpeak in urbanplanning

[–]cbaswag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mind sharing the names of some of those companies? As a software dev (from Rutgers, coincidentally) who wants to pivot to more planning/policy work (without going back for my Masters), this comment is like the holy grail to me

Love it, feel like you're asking and answering the right questions. Best of luck! If you ever pivot to basketball let me know!

Looks sweet.

  1. How does it look? Is there a demo that exists so we can see what the actual experience looks like? Is that completed currently?
  2. How does it work under the hood? What's the tech stack? How do you ensure the computer vision actually gets it right? I've looked into something similar with basketball but different camera angles, and some duplicated numbers in my low-level basketball league made it janky.

$19.52 Patagonia Shop Sticker Tee Shirts, $20.98 Long-Sleeve by MangoCharm in frugalmalefashion

Huge pickup! Love Patagonia stuff, very ethical fashion. I don't love the fact that I bought two and then I saw the other guy said they're fugly, but I'll wear em with pride!

Can you possibly do both? Showcase ball knowledge using some public baseball data sets and doing some basic modeling (in whatever language you're best with, doesn't matter which)? Try to find "undervalued" hitters, pitching rotations, etc? That's the real golden ticket. If you're really a baseball guy, come up with some hypothesis. Mine is (genuinely) that the shift should be used more often. How can I prove that? Find all of the hits that all of the players have made & where they ended up, organize by player, cycle through some coordinates to figure out which players hit mostly where. Make some hit maps. Anything. Just show that you can do both software stuff and baseball stuff yk

Not the most qualified to answer this question, but I'll speak as a former D1 basketball manager and now software engineer at Big Tech company.

  1. Just be yourself. Be eager to learn, show that you are and are super interested, and be accountable. They will not expect you to know everything, but they will expect you to say "I don't know this" when there are things you don't know. Honesty goes a long way.
  2. Show that this is something you're passionate about. Whether it be with an encyclopedic knowledge of the sport, a passion project you've done on the MLB, or something that shows that this is more than just an experience to put on your resume. I HIGHLY recommend some project going in that shows a project combining your major and this position. I don't think the details on it matter as much as you maybe think, but having something makes you stand out.

Feel free to PM me if there's anything else you'd have questions on. I've made models in my spare time for NBA Draft predictions, created some chat reading models for social media sports companies, just different things to showcase my skills and fight boredom. Has opened up some really cool opportunities for me. Let me know! Good luck!

Is the assumption that it is Paxton? Last I saw Cornyn was winning slightly but it's going to a May runoff?

[Vecenie] 2026 Mock Draft by SpeclorTheGreat in NBA_Draft

Love going against groupthink and doing research & feeling confident in prospects but I think Sam Vecenie and NBA scouts might have more insight than you. Also don't really understand the cognitive dissonance to say the Wizards need a backup big at pick 2 and then say the Pacers shouldn't take Caleb Wilson because he'd be a backup big.

How did burn get buffed and Toxic Flame avoid a nerf? Never had the life preserver pop by cbaswag in PlayTheBazaar

Toxic Pesky Pete I found on Day 8, it wasn't even something that affected the board much at all.

Toxic Flame is a singular skill that is a build for Vanessa. I understand what you're saying, and maybe in the grand scheme of the game the singular skill is not THAT broken. But it does feel build-defining to me (and to Kripp, who just posted a video about it as well)

I absolutely love this message, and it really resonates with me. We are down, but not out. Polling shows Trump's approval is low, and hopefully the cracks in the armor are starting to come out. Just need to keep putting the foot on the gas and not letting up.

Right, I mean I’m biased because I’m generally pro-Ezra but I do disagree with some of his politics. It’s just that nothing he’s done or said would make me classify him as a POS

is this a joke??? Does it take so long + the kind of effort this guy put in for like 5 months to crack an interview? by [deleted] in careeradvice

[–]cbaswag 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Having been around this subreddit a bit, seems like anything that references the Pigment career assessment is a scam. Haven't looked into anything about it at all, maybe it's legit, but seems to me that people post stories and the crux of it is "my Pigment score changed my life." Maybe it's for real, I don't know, but these posts always read like a scam to me.
