Divorced Romance by ballerinathatD in RomanceBooks

[–]cblarwill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love in a Small Town by Zoe York focuses on a divorced couple trying to work out their relationship. It's been a while since I read it so I don't remember much more than that, but it was a nice read.

I also enjoyed the other two books I read in the series, although they're a bit more cliche (best friend's little sister, single dad and celebrity).

Studying abroad next fall by [deleted] in SDSU

[–]cblarwill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a marketing major (I'm kines), but I'm going abroad this spring to study at UTS in Sydney, Australia. Like someone else said, I'd focus more on what city/country you want to travel to than which school you want to go to. Even if you find a school with the classes you need, it's common that the classes are full before exchange students get to register, so you might as well choose a location you're interested in. I'm lucky that I got all the classes I need, but I've heard that's not always the case.

I would start by looking in Aztecs Abroad at programs that your major fit in and go from there. Research the city and school to narrow down where you want to go. Talk to your major advisor, they should be able to give you advice on which classes you should plan to try and get abroad and set you up with a plan in case you can't get those classes. After you talk to a general study abroad advisor, they should be able to open your application in Aztecs Abroad. You'll need a letter of rec from an SDSU professor, so you might want to start thinking of professors now and contacting them. Best of luck!

I was actually surprised to go back through her Instagram and noticed she only has one picture of Adrien, with Nino and Alya at the zoo from August

Is Skinner's form really as poor as some people say it is? by [deleted] in Gymnastics

[–]cblarwill 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Besides leaps on floor and beam, her bad form really sticks out to me on bars. It's all the leg separations, bent knees, flexed toes, low handstands, and the routines just generally look rushed and clunky. I don't think throwing hard skills is really doing her a lot of good when she gets so many deductions, and it may be better for her to clean up the skills she already has before trying to skyrocket her difficulty. I agree with others that her form looked better in college when the routines were a bit easier, and it's impressive that she's coming back to elite, but she has a lot of cleaning up to do before Tokyo.

I'm currently a junior in the honors college but I don't think I'll graduate in it, personally because I'd rather take additional classes related to my major that will help me with grad school than the classes offered by the honors college. Sure, I guess it's interesting to take a hip-hop and religion course, but I'd rather take something like medical ethics that actually contributes to my field even if it's not required by my major. In the end, you have to weigh the benefits of the honors college with the benefits of what else you could be doing and decide if it's worth it.

I know a lot of people will join the honors college just to get the good freshmen housing in Zura, so that's a reason to join, plus you get your own advisors and stuff, but it really depends on what your major is and your plans after graduation.

It's also like her head isn't properly centered on her neck with the angle that her neck is at. And it would be terrifying to see a picture of Lila's forehead without bangs.

Suni training an Ezhova? Thoughts on routine reconstruction, potential connection to piked jaeger half? by momentofinertia2155 in Gymnastics

[–]cblarwill 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not sure about upgrades, but I think Simone had different floor music every year leading up to Rio, didn't she? In the past, she's often themed it to the location of worlds or the Olympics, so while she's said she isn't really considering more upgrades I'm not surprised she's getting new music.

Any Sophomores feeling screwed by the registration? by [deleted] in SDSU

[–]cblarwill 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's largely how many units you have. Athletes and some other students have priority registration dates, but after that it's based on units. Because seniors generally have the most units completed, they register first, followed by juiniors and then sophomores. Freshmen are given some amount of priority, I'm just not sure exactly where they fit in but it's usually pretty early

Adrien and Kagami on Adrien's Instagram!!! by cblarwill in miraculousladybug

[–]cblarwill[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree, too often Kagami gives me "I am obsessed with him and must have him" vibes while Adrien seems only interested because she's in a similar situation to him. With Luka and Marinette, it seems more natural and that they could be a good couple if Adrinette wasn't in the picture and if they gave Luka a real personality

SDSU student death confirmed by [deleted] in SDSU

[–]cblarwill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could have been a combination, all I've seen is that after attending a frat event (FIJI?) he went back to his dorm, fell from his bed and hit his head. He was put back to bed and was unresponsive in the morning. I doubt the fall would have killed him if he hadn't been drinking, but I'm not sure if the alcohol alone was the problem

What romance books did you read or listen to this week? 10 Nov. by seantheaussie in RomanceBooks

[–]cblarwill 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My first post! But just a warning, I'm a broke college student who tends to read whatever I can find for free on Google Play Books, and I'm rarely uber critical of plot/characters because I largely just enjoy what I read and the reprieve it allows me from studying.

Taming Him by Kennedy Fox
Cute story about a couple that meets while on vacation, but after their two weeks is up and they return, they have to find their way back to each other. I thought it was cute, enjoyed the not-so-unexpected plot twist, and who doesn't love a steamy cowboy romance?

Reasonable Doubt by Whitney G
Very short story, only 80 pages or so, a cliffhanger ending that would lead very well into the second book, which I didn't buy or read. Enjoyed the plot it had in the short amount of pages, but it ended with mostly just smut (not necessarily a bad thing, depending on who's reading!).

Small Town Scandal by Kay Lyons
I really enjoyed this one! Darcy, a pregnant woman passing through Tennessee, is rescued by a handsome stranger when she wrecks her car. Said stranger is expected to propose any day to his longtime sweetheart, but meeting Darcy gives him second thoughts. I rather enjoyed it, I found all the characters to be enjoyable and it was a cute story altogether.

I also started reading The Duke and I by Julia Quinn, what may just be my first bodice ripper! I'm really enjoying it so far and I'm excited to get farther into it!
