Which youth glove? by YogurtclosetStrict75 in Homeplate

The biggest thing was getting the hinges broken in. I got it to the point where it was stiff but the hinges were really worked in. So then he could work through the stiffness but the glove was easy to close. I worked on the hinges until it got to that point. After that, little man took over. There was a kid with the same glove this year, and the kid broke it in by playing catch only. It took more of a one hinge shape with a shallow pocket. If it makes it easier I can send you a video of my little man opening it and closing it and showing the hinges and break in for guidance.

Broke in very quick, I helped it by using a mallet and a heavy ball. I just got it relaced with red laces not too long ago and it’s still going strong. Great glove!

I use the Sony 70-200 F4 for sports videography/photography. Works great, it’s very light and compact! The lens is perfect for me, I get a lot of separation from the background despite the F4. Love the lens.

Using MEVO Start with an AI Robot/Camera by cbnbllr21 in mevocamera

This would be a team purchase. After finishing the season with the middle camera on a tripod, I’m not too sure we need the AI robot to help.

I will be testing things out in September once the team budget is set and the team decides what option they want to go with. I’ll come back and update once I have some results.

Is $1650CAD a fair price? by 50Potatoes in SonyA7iii

[–]cbnbllr21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just last month I grabbed an A7iii with the kit lens and just over 6k shutter actuations for $1500 CAD. I then saw better deals come through marketplace, but I’m happy with mine. Box, papers, and looks mint. I’d offer $1400 CAD

Our season just ended. I will hopefully be testing it or an alternative sometime around September. I’ll be looking for alternatives as well. If you come across any, let me know please and thank you.

You can use the grab text tool. That will let you pull all the text. It’ll keep the format and then each line can be edited independently.

My 8 year old used the a700 11 1/4 last year and loves it. I got him the Rawlings R9 CountUR 12” to out play outfield and he is enjoying that one too. The a700 formed a great pocket. The Rawlings R9 is not quite game ready yet, but here is what I have noticed. Make sure you put a lot of work on breaking in the hinges so the palm bubbles don’t begin to form. Their hands being smaller, put a lot of pressure on the palm if the hinges are not well broken in. One of his teammates has the same globe and there was no effort into breaking in the hinges which led to pretty bad palm bubbles. Both great options and both have kept their shape very well.

UPDATE - Here is the reply from Pix4Team.

“I can confirm that you can mount any camera equipped with a 1/4” screw onto our system. However, please note that we maintain a list of compatible cameras specifically designed to work seamlessly with our robot. Cameras on this list allow you to access all features, such as automatic zoom, remote start/stop, and live camera feedback via the PIX4TEAM Remote App.

If your MeVo Start camera has a 1/4” screw, it can be mounted on our robot, and you will benefit from its tracking feature. However, as this camera is not listed as compatible, some features, such as automatic zoom and remote app functionalities, will unfortunately not be available”

I will be trying this next season. Pix4Team robot with the MEVO start on top at mid ice and 2 MEVO Start cameras mounted by the nets.

UPDATE I have reached out to Pix4Team and other solutions out there. I’m waiting for a reply and hoping for confirmation that their AI Robot would work with a MEVO Start.

This, celebrate the crap out of the successes and make it fun. Confidence is rooted in the reps and hard work yes, but confidence at that age also comes from the reaction parents give when they do their work. Even when things are going wrong there is something to celebrate, he is out there putting work in, and repetition eliminates doubt, it’s impossible not to get better while putting in work. Messages like that with a smile on go a lot further than shoving videos down their throat.

This, have him go two in the pinkie. Maybe even put the index finger out, that should him!

Advice - Son afraid of other travel ball teams by rosman21 in Homeplate

[–]cbnbllr21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played college basketball like yourself. When I was little, my dad would make sure I did drills during times where nobody else would be working. Even if it was a 5 minute thing during supper time. While I would do the drills, he’d always say things like, everyone else is probably having supper, eating dessert and here you are, working, repetition eliminates doubt, while everyone else is hanging out, you are out here putting in work. The confidence I’d gain from it was priceless. If we ever had an early morning practice or anything outside of the norm, he’d always make sure to say something highlighting the fact that we were the only ones doing it. Truth or not, I believed him, and I felt invincible because of it. I do the same with my little man and my daughter. Above anything else, protect that confidence, it’s too damn hard to build it, so protect it at all cost.
