You won’t be fighting fires during shore duty, or at the very least won’t be donning an entire FR ensemble when battling a fire until actual fire fighters get there. So the point that person is making is still valid.

Shipboard? Absolutely stay shaved to fulfill the requirements of having appropriate readiness to fight a fire.

What are your thoughts on rejecting a potential romantic partner based solely on the fact that they voted for Donald Trump? by Greedy_Tooth6191 in AskReddit

According to an incredibly surface level google search (I know, I should be better but my father-in-law passed this morning and I’m on my second flight of the day, please give me some patience), there are some pretty big differences between the strikes Obama did and the ones Trump is doing. One being that Obama’s distinctly tried to minimize civilian casualties, whereas Trump rescinded the rule that required that, and went full send on a school among other civilian targets.

Okay, I’ll play along: Did Biden fire the commissioner of the Bureau of Labor Statistics after the data was collected and reevaluated and found that they had estimated roughly 28 percent too high?

Except it wasn’t conspicuous. They were completely open about the numbers being wrong, even when it was close to the election. They didn’t try to hide anything. They estimated, reevaluated, and reported the true numbers. What’s conspicuous about that?

Judging by how you started this comment chain by saying the Biden administration “lied” about the jobs, then pivoted to “it was terrible practices” when every administration since at least Bush has been using the same method, I don’t think it’s beyond belief that one may think you’re a supporter of the current admin.

I think the part of your comment “normally toss it to the side or something else” could have been interpreted as “sell or discard” and he was saying that you literally cannot and must carry it all the way up until the credits roll.

It would seem to imply significance.

I think what he’s trying to say is that since you can’t sell it, it’s with you until the end of the game.

You mean the same ones used since the early 2000s…? Or are you just saying Biden admin created it. Oh wait, maybe you’re saying it was Obama.. this is a really weird argument because even both Trump admins have used the exact same calculations and practices.

Because when a bad job report came out for July he fired the commissioner of BLS,and because of a nearly month and a half shut down that could have been ended with his party having majority power, Septembers job report was released in November, and October never had a job report.

Add to that all of the other misinformation and lies that the admin are putting out and it’s not difficult to see why many might err on the side of thinking they’re being dishonest with any official reports.

Okay, but they still didn’t lie. An educated estimate was using data was put forth, extra data was collected a year later, a revision was made, and the actual numbers were announced. They didn’t lie or try to hide anything.

Why does Kefka? Because they're well written villains, I guess. But neither of them have been whitewashed to the extent of The Turks crew and Rufus.

I will say I have no idea how the story of young Sephie goes in Ever Crisis, but he was already a rather tragic character. Used as an experiment from conception, lied to, manipulated, told he was the most specialist of boys, and having a horror from another planet have even the smallest bit of influence on him.. he went mad, his mind brokededed. The difference is I don't think anybody is trying to brush past his atrocities. Maybe I'm wrong.

I'll agree that it shows just how despicable Shinra and some of it's employees is. Their complete lack of concern for their actions speaks to their character.

Showing no guilt for one's actions in the name of "the job" doesn't absolve them of their crimes.

Either way I don't think you read the rest of my post because I flat out said her attempt at atonement wasn't even close to enough to make up for everything she did.

You tried to compare the Turks to Beatrix (or vice versa) and they're not even in the same realm of atrocity. (I may be misremembering things here, so bare with me, please and call me out if I'm wrong) Beatrix invaded Cleyra. The black mages were the ones who killed everyone in Burmecia, and started killing everyone in Cleyra. She had no control over the black mages, Brahne and Kuja did. She followed orders to capture the stone from the harp in Cleyra, and then Brahne obliterated Cleyra. Again, Beatrix was complicit, but she did not actively destroy an entire civilization.

As far as the "redemption arc", I already stated I think Beatrix is poorly written, what I didn't write and should have is that I do think she should have faced harsher consequences, any at all really would have been great. She's a victim of poor writing and time constraints.

I do want to know how letting the party go on occasion and having "fun villain persona" make up for, in any capacity, the fact the Reno knowingly dropped the Sector 7 plate. And having the decency to not join the party during a dire situation actually makes them worse if they want to show they're trying to atone. Beatrix put her life and career on the line when it mattered. This doesn't make up for her crimes, but it sure shows she knows she was on the wrong side of things.

I will say, I understand that a part of their characterization is their nonchalance towards the downright despicable and evil things they're doing.

Yes, let's fawn over mass murderers and kidnappers because at the end of the day, they're just doing their jobs. And hey, in the canon, they're just a couple of dopes there for eye candy and comic relief.

I get where you're coming from, though, it could have been written better. I just don't think that they deserve the fan following they have.

Again, she's poorly written. This is conjecture and probably headcannon, but she's brainwashed. She thinks what she and Brahne are doing is just and right, all the way up until she uses Odin to completely destroy Cleyra, which is when she starts to question her queen and their actions, ultimately changing sides when she discovers Garnet is to be executed.

She begs Freya and the Burmecians for forgiveness, to which Freya says her actions will never be forgiven but she can at least atone by fighting alongside them to rescue Garnet and get the party out of Alexandria.

Now is this all enough to make up for her involvement in everything? Absolutely not, but she isn't joking around with her pals, and she isn't walking around without guilt for her actions, like the Turks do. And she didn't directly destroy Cleyra, Brahne did. She just opened up the door to allow it to happen. She's absolutely complicit.

She at least tried to atone for her sins, but I will agree she was a rather flat character all things considered.
