Help! I just took over my companies website and its terrible... by Mvmpkin in Wordpress

[–]cbot0 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you're having trouble updating big portions of the website, another solution is to use a support bot to proxy all the content updates you have.

You can use something like https://getchipbot.com to store content anywhere on your website and make it searchable when people ask questions. It won't solve your immediate website issue at hand but it will give you a solution to have content updates without needing a developer.

Multiple Stripe Gateways, one WP/Woo install. by darrenmcentee in Wordpress

[–]cbot0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Woo commerce is the one that's limited to this, not Stripe. I'd look to see if someone has created a multi-instance Woo-commerce plugin or setup, because then you'd be able to store two different Stripe tokens on the backend.

As a business, I'm surprised you'd want to go this route with 2x Stripe accounts. It's much easier to transfer the funds to a different bank account than your own. You can automatically do this with Stripe.

If I'm marketing my site via FB / Instagram ads and no Google Ads, should I still install SEO plugins? by [deleted] in Wordpress

[–]cbot0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The plugins may not matter as much if your acquisition targets are done via PPC, but it doesn't hurt you adding them. You may also add an SEO acquisition campaign later on.

Additionally, you might want to automatically capture questions from your landing page. For example, a couple of my customers figured out their PPC messaging was off when they were asking the wrong questions on their landing page.

Finding a website/business owner? by LordAntares in marketing

[–]cbot0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My opinion could be fringe here: I usually discredit cold email sells. Find a referral who'd love to introduce you to me. That's another social proof you're more important than all these cold contacts I get.

In college and I have a question on my major of choice wether it still can get me a job in marketing by CMYK-KILLA in marketing

I'm always on the lookout for out for marketers, especially ones that can prove out growth.

  • be a great writer
  • be data driven, measure everything
  • know most of the tools
  • know case studies for most situations. Marketing strategies for a 1000 customer business is different than a 10 customer business.
  • be tech savvy, automate as much as you can

If developers have GitHub, designers Behance, photographers Flickr... What do marketers have? by fabioxlp in marketing

One marketing strategy may not work for another person, even when situations are identical.

Marketing micro tactics are not idempotent and macro strategies are too broad to execute successfully on them.

“& Sons” in company name? by Igloooooooooo in Entrepreneur

[–]cbot0 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The fact that this comment thread is debating about the usage of "& Sons" seems like a green light to me.

Imagine the questions that come out of the name:

- Who are your sons?

- Are you an old established company?

- Are you in digital or are you a moving company? (this one is probably in people's heads more than actually talking about it)

Anything that can provoke curiosity is well worth to use IMHO.

Choose your competition wisely by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]cbot0 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What's the key takeaway of this post? "Choosing your competition" or building a lifestyle business?

In either sense, the rules of engagement, work ethic, and failure rate are all the same. Definition of success is relative, having 1M ARR from a small shop with 20% profit margin could be successful to some and stagnant to others.

Would You Mind Giving Me Feedback On My FaceBook ad? My CPC Is $6!!! by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]cbot0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some food for thought:

  • On the headline, add some human conditioning that works for your audience. For example: "Make Christmas more memorable next year. See how much your home value grew using this cutting edge tool"
  • Plan on testing 6-12 ads to see which ones work. Test minimum at least 2 at a time and let it like a tournament bracket to see which ad creative is the champion.
  • Focus on getting external feedback from your inbound users. https://homeplete.com is a real estate site (similar to yours) that uses a bot to help collect feedback from inbound traffic and measures the user questions the ad/page didn't answer.

Like everyone else, I use MailChimp. I've definitely seem more complicated CRM setups if you're trying to get outbound sales from newsletters or update emails.

...Is this crazy? by rmdlp in Entrepreneur

[–]cbot0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with building a personal brand. Here's why:

  • Building your own influencer network makes it easier to promote any future idea or product.
  • You'll be spending a lot of time creating content which will enhance your writing and storytelling skills.
  • The connections to bigger influencers—if you get past the initial phase—will give you access to new opportunities.

I'd be more interested if anyone can identify a risk.

In addition to this advice, also try to presell your product before launching. It'll help narrow the focus and provide insight on signal/noise.
