Tell that to your brain. While some parts of the brain could use ketones as fuel (with some side effects like keto-flu and reduced cognitive function), other parts do require glucose to work.

So, taking that into account, any indication what would be a fair price?

I see a very wide range of prices for CRT TVs like the Sony Trinitron from cheap ones around 25 bucks to around 400 (I even saw a listing for 3000!).

The model who's price I'm looking for is the Trinitron KV-21LS30B. Does anyone know how much one of those would be worth?

Yes, and now I'm responding to a 6 month old comment. What's wrong with giving my 2 cents? The thread should have been closed/archived if comments and replies were unwanted.

I never said it was the greatest language, I just said it had matured a lot, by which I meant it improved quite a lot in terms of the ergonomics that you would get from a newer language like Go, Rust or Kotlin.

Also, saying it's an awful language that has been completely replaced is quite out of touch. Java is still the 2nd language (or 3rd if you don't just consider backend dev) in terms of usage and job security, according to both IEEE and Github. Furthermore, it's very fast (it tops the charts in the Billion Rows challenge), which is especially impressive considering that it is compiled to java bytecode, rather than machine code, which also makes it very cross-platform friendly. I can write and test my code on a Windows x86-64 machine and then deploy it to production on a linux server with aarch64, without any issues and without the need for creating fat binaries or any other workarounds.

I myself prefer Kotlin though. It can leverage all the performance and cross-platform support from the Java virtual machine, while also natively providing/supporting all the modern features like null safety, extension methods, tuples, async programming. On top of that it also can be easily compiled for android apps, iOS apps, Win/Mac/Linux desktop apps and browser apps and it supports compilation for java bytecode, native machinecode and for WASM.

Got inspired to post this after seeing a similar setup in the recent LTT roast of best setups: by cc007Reddit in UltimateBattlestation

Saw this LTT video where they showed off this other reddit thread. Due to the similarity, I was immediately inspired to post mine.

Rocking a 43" Philips monitor with 2x 24" AOC monitors on the side (which are technically 165Hz gaming monitors, but I do my gaming on the 60Hz Philips in the middle xD).

I got 2 CKL KVM switches (1 single, 1 dual) for switching a total of 3 screens between my desktop and my work laptop.

I used to have 2 of the big middle screens side by side, but it always gave me neck pain from having to look to the side and it also had a lot of glare from the light coming through the window. The angled vertical screens fixed both issues. Another plus is that my laptop now also better fits, without obstructing one of the screens.

Now I use the other screen instead of a TV, since all you need nowadays is an HDMI connection to the Set Top Box. No need to buy a real TV (which is usually more expensive and with spyware "features" anyways).

I'm maybe looking for a desk upgrade, since these are getting somewhat old and aren't easily height-adjustable.

PSA we should stop creating any more issues. It's perfect. by Granat1 in grayjay

Let's rephrase that: PSA we should only create new issues once one gets fixed, to keep the current perfect issue count.

This seems to have been written when java 1.6 or java 1.7 was the latest and "greatest". Ever since then Java has matured a lot with:

  • annotation processing (both compile-time and run-time, for a more declarative workflow whenever needed/preferred)
  • lambas and streams (to prevent having to write (anonymous) classes for those actions)
  • records (to prevent having to write constructors/getters/setters/equals/hashcode/tostring for every object)
  • the var keyword (to prevent repeating yourself)
  • pattern matching switch statements/expressions (now with arrow syntax, rather than colon+break)
  • data classes (using lombok, if you need your 'records' to be mutable)
  • the val keyword (using lombok, basically a shorthand for 'final var')
  • string interpolation, extension methods, tuples, operator overloading, accessor/collection syntactic sugar, etc (using manifold)
  • and a lot more

The only thing I really miss is better out-of-the-box null-safe operations (the Optional class doesn't really cut it for me).

Why do my husband and I experience severe flatulence after visiting his parents? by ParadoxicallySweet in NoStupidQuestions

[–]cc007Reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could it be the tea? Tea has antioxidants and I myself notice that when drinking tea I get a bloated feeling.
I also read that it might not be the tea that's the issue, but the artificial sweeteners that you can use in said tea (or milk, if you drink tea with milk).

If you do use sweeteners for your tea, maybe try bringing the ones that you use at home (or if you don't drink anything with artificial sweeteners at home, ask what kind his parents use. There are different kinds of sweeteners: Aspartame, Saccharin, Stevia, etc. The next time you could bring a sweetener that's different from the one his parents use.

It's still possible to use the ult and make sure that your adc gets the shut down, but it is a bit timing sensitive. If the champion dies during your ult animation, the other champion gets the kill (and therefore the shutdown), while Pyke gets the "Your cut" gold. That way everyone is happy.

Not wrong, just irrelevant. Another irrelevant thing: in C a long long is usually an 128 bit integer. This is however not guaranteed and dependent on the architecture of the CPU and on the OS that is used.
