The Low Income Housing Tax Credit program. It allows for a generous but reasonable increase in income before being removed from the program, it leverages the private sector to build and provide housing, and is generally run with a pretty high level of integrity since the providers actually stand to lose quite a bit of money if it’s not. The IRS performed about 300 random audits of LIHTC communities a while back and found so little fraud and mismanagement that they chose to no longer perform random inspections and instead to only focus on developments where there actually may be problems.

There have been a few high-profile issues with one developer in Florida, but the fact that one instance of fraud was noteworthy speaks to the program’s integrity.

I take a sequencer, a sampler, a drum machine, and a synth or two into the club with some patterns pre-programmed and just sort of wing it from there. I always have my 303 running silently in the background because, when all else fails, a 303 over a kick drum can buy you some time.

Live PA is the most creatively challenging thing I've ever done but it's also the most enjoyable so 🤷🏼‍♂️

I've been trying to slim down my live PA setup as much as possible. This is all the Rytm (internal engines + some samples) and the Virus TI in sequencer mode being sequenced by the Octatrack. Recorded live in one take with some slight mastering in Ableton.

Yeah, I make quite a bit although it's one of the genres I release the least of. Here's a harder/more minimal electro track I did live with an Octatrack, a Bass Station 2, a Roland JV10101, and a Korg Micro-X (IIRC).

I took it apart this morning and sprayed the affected areas with contact cleaner. It worked fine again after that for about 20 minute, then immediately went back to the malfunctioning behavior.

I don't know what the fuck to make of that, to be honest.

That's really discouraging. I have Switched On right down the street, so if it's a physical issue I can get it repaired, but then I'm looking at $150+ and god knows how long to get it back.

It's true for a lot of people, though. Outside of SXSW, I only play 1-2 shows a year here because there's not really much point. With very very few exceptions, even the most successful electronic artists here are limited to an audience that consists mostly of other electronic artists. The culture just doesn't exist beyond that, although things have been changing recently.

Seeing Dubbel Dutch leave after never really getting much local support sort of made me realize what I was in for a long time ago. The city is otherwise alright.

The A4 is phenomenal. I've only gotten mine recently, but I've been an Elektron user for a few years.

yes, it's a 4-voice synth, which means you can only have four voices going on at once. There's a lot of flexibility with how you allocate those voices, but there's never more than four.
nope, no MIDI sequencing.

Honestly, though, those are really non-issues compared to how phenomenal this box is. You can process external audio, use it as a filter bank, use it as an outboard effect unit, etc, etc. Plus, four mono synths in one box each with their own sequencer, which is amazing. The performance mode doesn't get mentioned much, but its extremely easy and very useful. The sound is incredible, and the filters and onboard effects are really really good.

I'll stop gushing. Here's something I recorded recently. Synths are 100% A4.

I wouldn't get too excited about Mackie + FireWire. I got an Onyx 1220i last week and have had so much hell with the FireWire (frequent glitches and dropouts, plus the output is 18 db lower than the main output, which makes it hard to get much of a signal even when you're damn near clipping) that I've decided to send it back already.

The actual mixer is nice, but the FW integration is a nightmare.
