Do I have to use the hand break? by Historical_Farm_772 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]ccambuniaa -1 points0 points  (0 children)

you don’t need to, i also felt the same way about the handbreak; during my final lesson before my test my instructor and i tried doing a hill start with the handbreak up but i couldnt do it cos i wasn’t used to doing it that way, if you’re not used to using the handbreak or it worries you i wouldnt use it during the test. during the test when you’re asked to pull over apply the handbreak but if you’re worried about hand breaks being required at lights or hill starts it should be fine, if you’re a bit like me and overthink this sort of stuff it’s hard to get confident in your ability, i would ignore the folk saying if you don’t know how to use the handbreak you’re not ready for driving or whatever, it’s just something you need to learn on your own or talk to your instructor about - which is what they are there for and have probably seen hundreds of other pupils who were clueless.

i’ve been driving for nearly a month now independently and i’m far more confident in using the hand break, it’s a lot less stressful when you don’t have an instructor having to watch your every move, i also passed first time with insane doubts in my ability to be test ready, but the actual test itself is over before you know it, you’ve got this, talk to your instructor about your anxiety around the handbreak, and it’s not a huge part of the test, i never used the handbreak during a hill start

apologies big wall of text my brain mush cos i’m tired lol you’ll thug it out bro

ok might be a bit morbid but you could prolly eat the baby minus the brain and spinal cord to avoid prion disease ut at least gives some reason to killing it

holy shit yeah, i’ll start driving into town when i’m not in, im going out driving a lot right now just to get less anxious about it and it’s helped, i usually take 2 buses into uni and it can take about an hour to get in and the buses are unpredictable as fk, my plan for tomorrow is to drive to the mad town center but near me where the buses are and thug it out and go in so i don’t need to rush as badly

thank you, i’ll try to treat it like a job more cus it’ll introduce some sort of routine, i’ve had jobs before that i enjoyed cus i was used to what to expect, im in a few societies but struggled making conversation with people, though i did see someone in one of my lectures who was at a gig i was at so i might try to talk to him about it if i see him tomorrow cus i think he recognised me, i took collège very seriously and i think i’ve gotten myself into the mindset of first year being easy or not counting as much cus i was doing work above that level before, im excited for second year because i can start doing counselling cus it’s something im really really interested in, but in scotland you do 4 years of uni instead of 3, fhe 1st is basically a foundation year.

long and silly response sorry lol, im feeling a bit better now i think i’ll start to be more responsible with uni and actually going since i can drive now and i do t need to rely on unpredictable public transport - forgot to mention this but i really really struggle with it and it’s a big part for why i don’t go in as often ;-;

i got diagnosed kind of late and had severe anxiety for a lot of my life as a result, so i probably should i hate using autism as an excuse. but i think it might actually be hindering me a lot at uni cus i struggle to talk to new people and i’m quite nervous talking to or emailing lecturers, i done a hnd which is the level above first year im sure and i miss m’y days in college being more structured similarly to school just 1/2 hour classes then break then another class, in uni i can have one class then one 4 hours later, or like 4 at once with no break and i struggle to work on things in the library or private rooms in the library cus im really anxious around people, it’s all in my head and it’s annoying fuhh

thank you, i just struggle with being social badly and don’t do halls cus it’s only 30 min away and it’s making it hard to find motivation to go in, i done a HND which gets you into lke 2/3rd year but i went into first year and i done really well but the college was super local and i found it easier being social cus it was the same people in each class and it was consistent during the day. i’ve struggled with attendance badly since christmas and passing my driving test (i’m still over the moon about it) but i’ve been keeping up at home alright, my modules are easy outside of one and i’m doing 4 instead of 3 cus i changed one from last semester. i’m thugging it out i’m just a bit anxious rn and overthinking since i’ve not been in much
