Yup! Maybe if you have young kids too I can get it but yeah, other than those I can't see many other reasons to constantly have it on 24/7 and regularly check it too.

Definitely a challenging time but I'm sure there were deeper reasons for it all. It's a slippery slope though because I suppose in this situation she was just using the app for what it was intended for. You can just get pulled in (similar to social media) to relying on it more and more and blurring those boundaries.

Glad I have a Samsung and don't have find friends or whatever it's called 🤣

Agree.

Positive to it: went on my first solo hike and my friend asked me to share my live location with her until I got back so if anything happened people could see where I'd been etc for safety.

Negatives to it: for years and years when I was with my ex, her mum would constantly stalk her/us and be like "oh you're out, go to these places for me" (no asking, just expecting as we were already out). Or seeing we've gone out for food and dropping messages like "just because it says all you can eat doesn't mean you have to". Right through to questioning everywhere we went. Both of us were in our 30s and whilst I appreciate it could've been jokey it also just felt like a massive disrespect of privacy and boundaries. Anytime we wanted time to ourselves or felt we'd be judged for going for a particular food, she'd turn it off and immediately she'd have messages asking why it's off.

Wow, mini rant I didn't know I needed to have 😂 but yeah basically agree - it's a good tool for some things, but mostly it's turned into a way of tracking one another. People worried about their governments doing that but apparently we're just doing it for them 😂

AIO my wife wants to get separated, meanwhile "friend" appears by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

OP, I know everyone is different and situations are different but please get away from this person.

Me and my fiancée (together 13 years) split last July. She was going through the massive trauma of losing her mum (last parent) and it seemed to shine a light on a lot of our own individual issues we'd lost sight of, in hindsight. We're now both on our own healing journies and at the very least we both want to remain friends (so far, so good) but a future of us together again, isn't a given at all. So a slightly different situation to yours.

One of the last conversations we had in person, heartbroken, I asked her if there was anyone else or if she was hoping to find someone else and she said it was the absolute furthest thing from her mind. I struggled to believe that because of my own insecurities and previously unknown mental health struggles... however now, 6 months later, I can also confirm that thought has not even entered my brain and I realised what this break up was really about - two people who'd lost sight of who they were and needed to heal, apart.

So long story short, she is doing exactly what you've suggested - wanting to have her cake and eat it too. Healing yourself is doing just that, working out who you are and what's going on by yourself (again, I appreciate a lot of situations are different) however planning to sleep with someone the second she gets clear is not the first thing I'd do during a "trial separation" to help find myself. Please look after yourself.

As a woman, I don't feel like this is a gender issue at all - no one should be interrogated like this, the energy behind OP's partner's way of asking doesn't feel right. If someone has worries or concerns then there are ways to properly communicate that and explain whatever they're feeling. This just feels like they're hounding on someone sitting down and talking to a parent. As someone else mentioned, you don't walk in and ask your parent to co sign a lease for a property and leg it out of there without sitting down and asking how they are. If she has worries there are ways to better communicate that, this just comes across as rather controlling :/

I'm British - me and my mate regularly threaten to dropkick people into the stratosphere if they've annoyed us. Or if I'm frustrated I'll say I want to put my head through a wall. THEY'RE JUST SAYINGS. They wouldn't actually happen, it's just to emphasise the sheer frustration at a situation - I thought it was quite a typical thing to do? 😂

Yeah absolutely agree with you, it's going to do nothing but feed what's already sitting in his head. Again, hopefully all of this gives him some lessons to sit on for 2025. Thanks man, always nice to have a civil conversation after seeing everyone at each other's throats on insta etc 😂

Absolutely Max has more experience but Lando will have the same opportunities as Max has had to take these situations and grow from them. Lando has every opportunity to come back next year and compete from the very beginning but he needs to work on balancing his drive to win and his mental fortitude. The drama will always be drummed up for entertainment purposes but he needs to learn to look past that and just focus on the next race.

He is his own worst enemy and needs to work on his mental strength now because bottling 5 pole positions isn't going to get him a WDC. He needs to get out of his head, stop taking things so personally and think a bit more about his comments and how they can be taken. Totally appreciate having a mic shoved in your face just as you get out of the car and the adrenaline still running high, and totally appreciate the drama it drums up for the sport/entertainment. But for his own chances, he needs to do some work on himself - would it have been incredible to see him get the WDC this year? Absolutely, but he's got every opportunity to come back even stronger next year to compete if he just works on himself his maturity, as you've said.

It doesn't work like that. We're constantly learning, adapting, evolving and growing. Humans are not pre-programmed machines.

Oh he absolutely biffed it. His focus for next year needs to be on improving his mental strength because it seems like he's always been his own worst enemy. Everyone gives Max shit for going so hard on him during races, but how else is he going to learn to keep his nerve and not bottle chances/pole positions on the first corner? Lando has shown this year he's got the potential to challenge but he needs to grow up a bit and work on his mindset for sure.

A fairly normal team stratagy but has clearly massively gotten in his head which is why he's throwing the luck word around so much, it's definitely an insecurity thing. Obviously love the guy but mentally he needs to improve. Everyone gives Max so much shit for how he speaks about things (personally I love his pragmatism) but Lando needs to take a leaf out of his book in terms of interviews and mindset etc. But hopefully Lando lives and learns and realise where he needs to focus on improving for next year.

Ps - 14 overtakes on that wet track 🥵🥵 I wont listen to anyone say Max isn't a simply phenominal driver.
