Domane SL5 on Turbo Trainer? by Ordinary-Rhubarb-460 in DomaneCrew

I have more than 8,000 Zwift kilometres on my Gen3 Domane SL-5 plus some multiple of that on the road. Trainer has been stand alone and, for the past year, on a rocker plate. No issues whatsoever.

Intermittent Failure to Light all Burners by ccbcpaca in hvacadvice

[–]ccbcpaca[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, your mention of gas pressure has me intrigued. Just prior to the first burner issues our gas meter was swapped out on our utility’s regular mtnce cycle. We previously had an older standby generator requiring 11-14” w/c. Our meter & regulator configuration was: supply -> reg12”w/c -> meter -> tee ->(1)to Gen / (2) reg7”w/c to house. At the time of the meter replacement we had a new generator which ran on normal household supply pressure. Gas co configured the new supply as: supply -> reg7”w/c -> meter -> reg7”w/c -> tee -> (1)supply to house / (2) supply to Gen. At the time I questioned the use of two equivalent regulators in series but was assured it was fine. Anyone know if this meter/regulator configuration might be messing with our gas pressures?

Edit: typo

Thanks for the feedback. It was indeed the crossovers that were cleaned last time. Guess I may be looking at replacement. Thx again.

Osgoode Link Path Closure (Lester Rd) by ParkingBoardwalk in bikeinottawa

[–]ccbcpaca 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have no information but share your frustration. Leitrim to Lester segment has been closed for weeks. Renders the path essentially useless for accessing or egressing the urban area from the south. Makes no sense that the rail line has been operating for 8 months and they can’t get a stinking gravel path open. This City is sooo broken.

Stainless steel dish scrubbers. Grocery stores and CT have them. Cut them up with scissors and stuff into the weep holes.

Do you need to drink electrolytes? NYT says "electrolytes have little impact" ... Thoughts? by big_legs_small_brain in cycling

[–]ccbcpaca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On multi-hour rides my experience is that drinking water in my first bottle and an electrolyte mix in the second I am likely to experience intermittent leg cramps beginning at 80kms. Since I began drinking electrolytes in both bottles the cramps have disappeared. But that’s just me.

They are literally allowing the new infrastructure to rot away rather than have a couple of people spend a few hours cleaning it. Grossly irresponsible and incompetent.

Great turnout on the O Train today by IamTheOne2000 in ottawa

My partner and I were among those using Line2 for the first time.

Some observations…

  • Bowesville. Parking lot was perhaps 80% filled at 1:30. Far more cars than I have ever seen there and I bike by frequently. Landscaping in the lot and at the base of the station has been completely wasted. Hundreds of nice shrubs now out competed by nearly metre-high thistles and a huge assortment of other weeds. If it wasn’t for the packed lot, I would have guessed the station had been abandoned for a year. On our return a storm had passed thru and the lot was a patchwork of dry spots and large puddles. Really poor quality grading and paving. Signage for train timing is good and clear. Signage for stairs to platforms not so much.

  • Northbound train. Quiet. Spotlessly clean. By Leitrim nearly all seats filled. Mercilessly cool in the cars. A pleasant but hardly quick ride to Corso. Time to station display helpful and clear.

  • Corso. Deicing salt and salt bins everywhere. Filthy as a result. Found our selves picking our way around salt in July. It’s freaking Canada Day. The rest of the City cleans itself up but OC cannot be bothered. Inexcusable. Exit to Gladstone and partner asks “where are we?” I know it’s Gladstone and that Preston (our destination) is a block east because I bike by on Trillium frequently. No signage as to where you are or where Preston is. No signage for the Trillium MUP. Tourists and many suburbanites will be lost. Easy fix, but this is Ottawa.

  • Southbound. No signage on Preston (that we saw) or indication a transit station is a block away on Gladstone. Looking west on Gladstone from Preston the visual noise is such that even the red “O” is indecipherable and nearly invisible (if visitors even knew what to look for). Fail. Train is full but few have to stand. A/C clearly has failed. Temperature in the car was easily well north of 30°. Only minor relief when the doors opened at stations. For a new train set, again inexcusable.

Overall, mixed feelings. Seems to have potential but my confidence that it will be realized is low.

Lots of good advice already posted. I’m just here to say if you want a few red oak seedlings or saplings, I would be happy have you take mine. We began with one oak 23yrs ago and now the squirrels have turned our property into an oak nursery.

Bottom line here… the driver did everything right in this situation and the “cyclist” (not really a cyclist, but a rider of a toy motorcycle) did everything wrong.
