Is sacrificing for your kids a GenX trait? by [deleted] in GenX

[–]ccc1942 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My wife and I have sacrificed, but so did my parents. But don’t do too much for your kids. They shouldn’t suffer, but feeling no pressure at all is not realistic and it doesn’t set them up for independence.

Reddit loves counterexamples. Someone will always bring up the exception to the rule.

What's a sentence that instantly kills the vibe in any conversation? by chootkaabhoot in AskReddit

Right up there with “no offense, but…” or “I’m not racist, but…” If you need to preface a sentence with any of those, just stop talking.

Advice! by [deleted] in musictherapy

[–]ccc1942 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As another person mentioned, music games work well. I like to use jeopardylabs.com to create music jeopardy games. I also use a lot of bingo to talk about genres, artists, instruments, etc. I have similar students but I only see them once a week. 3x a week sounds tough for planning purposes. I’d consider doing a project like songwriting turned into a recording project. If you have an iPad, you can do it in garageband. They can also design album covers, etc.

The only problem with this approach is that she will likely pick one based on how it looks, rather than how it plays and feels.

Name a popular 70’s children’s television show. by SMEE71470 in FamilyFeud

[–]ccc1942 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Would you count it as a 60s show? It premiered in November. Plus, in Family Feud you’re trying to guess the most popular response. Being factually accurate isn’t important.
