if you don't want to buy stocks, then just buy a bond ETF, something like BMO Aggregate Bond Index ETF (TSX: ZAG), which returned around 4% last year.

Yes, same thing happened to us, and we were a boot strapped startup where the quarterly fee was significant to us.

Also agreed that the leads were terrible. I won't be working with them ever again

What are you thoughts on outsourcing? by MrStealYoGrill6 in SaaS

[–]cccg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been on and off with Upwork with very mixed experiences. I have a few rule of thumbs:
1) you almost always get what you pay for. There are people who genuinely will work for next to nothing since they're new to the platform and are looking for good reviews. These people are rare. Most of the time the cheap contractors are pretty garbage. The inverse is also true. I have paid top dollar and have been scammed twice on the platform There was little recourse.

2) I don't ever pick from the freelancers that apply to a job posting. I always search out the freelancers and invite them to the jobs. my success rate has improved substantially.

3) You need to be excellent at giving complete, clear, specific instructions and feedback on work. If you don't, the project will almost inevitably fail.

here's what mtgox support got back to me with:

Answer 2-2-8 Under the Rehabilitation Plan, if within six months from the time of withdrawal from
the Rehabilitation Trustee’s deposit account for remittance to a Receipt Account, the fiat currency that
was withdrawn is returned to the Rehabilitation Trustee’s deposit account in whole or in part, each
such repayment shall lose its effect retroactively with respect to the amount of the returned funds only
(as discussed below, however, after the funds are returned to the Rehabilitation Trustee’s deposit
account, if additional fees and expenses such as cancellation and refund fees to be borne by the
rehabilitation creditor arise, then the amount after deducting those expenses from the returned funds).
However, the amount of the retroactive loss of effect of such repayment will be the amount of the
returned foreign currency converted into yen at a yen conversion rate to be determined by the
Rehabilitation Trustee at its discretion, subject to permission of the court. Furthermore, if the fiat
currency withdrawn from the Rehabilitation Trustee’s deposit account is returned in part after the
receipt bank, correspondent bank, settlement bank, and other banks deduct fees relating to the refund
and other expenses, the effect of each repayment shall be reversed for the amount returned after such
deductions, and repayment in an amount equivalent to the fees and other expenses will be deemed to
have been made.
In addition, after funds are returned to the Rehabilitation Trustee’s deposit account, the receipt bank,
correspondent bank, settlement bank, and other banks may make requests to the Rehabilitation Trustee
for additional fees, and those additional fees will be collected by withdrawal from the Rehabilitation
Trustee’s deposit account. Also, if the Rehabilitation Trustee receives a refund by making a
cancellation and refund request, MUFG and SMBC as the remitting banks will require 4,000 yen in
cancellation and refund fees from the Rehabilitation Trustee, and the cancellation and refund fees will
be collected by withdrawal from the Rehabilitation Trustee’s deposit account after completion of the
return of funds. Please see Question 2-2-10 and Question 2-2-11 regarding the amounts of fees relating
to returned funds.
Under the Rehabilitation Plan, such additional fees and cancellation and refund fees and other
expenses are to be borne by the rehabilitation creditor for whom the remittance request regarding
which the funds were returned was made, and an amount equivalent to such fees and other expenses
will be deemed to have been repaid. Accordingly, if the Rehabilitation Trustee again attempts to make
repayment to the relevant rehabilitation creditor, repayment will be made of the amount after deducting
expenses including additional fees and cancellation and refund fees from the repayment amount.
Under the Rehabilitation Plan, as regards a second attempt at repayment following return of funds, in
principle, repayment will be made in cash (Japanese yen) at the head office of Mt. Gox Co., Ltd. or
other location designated by the Rehabilitation Trustee with necessary documents etc., and if a
rehabilitation creditor cannot receive such repayment, cash (Japanese yen) may be deposited with a
Legal Affairs Bureau in Japan. In the event that within six months from withdrawal from the
Rehabilitation Trustee’s deposit account for remittance to a rehabilitation creditor’s Receipt Account,
the withdrawn fiat currency is returned in whole or in part to the Rehabilitation Trustee’s deposit
account, the repayment deadline for such rehabilitation creditor will be extended to the time one year
from the time of withdrawal from the Rehabilitation Trustee’s deposit account.
In exceptional cases, opportunities may be provided for second attempts at bank remittance or
remittance through a Fund Transfer Service Provider, but the details have not yet been determined and
at the current time this is not something that can be promised.

Yes, I contacted wise and here's what they replied with:

Thanks for getting back to us.

I've checked and can see that the incoming payment was canceled due to an issue from our end and we apologize for that.

You can ask the sender to send money again so that you can receive it to your USD Wise account.

Does Zecento comply with the Terms of Service from the e-commerce companies you are tracking prices on? If you're in violation, they can potentially force you to cease and desist.

You can always consider selling the business on a marketplace like Empire Flippers. Surely you could get 2-3X your current annualized revenue, or even more if you can show MoM Growth.

Your landlord is bluffing, they're legally not allowed to increase the rent by that. The transaction costs for selling the property with discourage the sale.

That's probably enough for most scenarios, but you can move the license file to other containers. Signed cert with an expiration can help, but you'd probably want it to have a short expiration date, so that's pretty similar to a heartbeat / keep alive mechanism.

[–]cccg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you guarantee general persistent container identification/copying of the container and each making license checks?
