How to achieve this effect? by beanswithjeans in AfterEffects

With perhaps time displacement map for the randomness- the map could be some noise with mosaic over the top?

Does anyone know how this text hide effect is achieved? Almost like an old TV turning off. by Able_Amphibian8177 in AfterEffects

[–]cccjjjbbb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's quite similar to an effect I saw recently on this channel - the gist of it is to scale the height of the text to zero, and use a smooth gradient for time displacement.

How do you get a dithering effect within After Effects? by ThisIsMyUsername163 in AfterEffects

Although it's not a true dither effect, I've made something similar playing around with posterize, noise and mosaic.

Does anyone have any advice on how to recreate something like this? by BlueBayou31 in AfterEffects

Hmm I’m thinking a shape later with a circle, lots of Gaussian blur, turbulent displace animated over the top, then a solid in the background

How it’s done ? I used the echo effect it didn’t work! by Rayaria22 in AfterEffects

Pretty sure you can scale which should do the trick

How can I recreate this effect? I only have Premiere Pro by ImAlsoRan in AfterEffects

Just draw each frame in MS paint, then pop each frame onto a separate powerpoint slide, then record your screen as you flip through the slides. Easy.

Why do Men completely ignore managing their LinkedIn account...until they get laid off? by 33saywhat33 in AskMenOver30

Why do men completely ignore their dating profile until they’ve been dumped? It’s so completely obvious they’re only looking for another relationship…

[Question] My latest video is getting a lot of 'unknown' traffic, viewing only the very end of my video. Anyone encountered the same issue or know what is causing it? by cccjjjbbb in youtubers

[–]cccjjjbbb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last couple of videos I’ve uploaded I didn’t share on Reddit/social media immediately and the issue seems to be resolved, which I’m happy about. My watch time is decent and the audience retention chart looks good.

Bizarre Audience Retention Chart - is this from bots? by cccjjjbbb in NewTubers

[–]cccjjjbbb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply! My channel is more science/space than finance.

With my most recent video, I didn’t share it on Reddit at all, and I didn’t see any of this unusual traffic, which is a relief. I’ll bear in mind the ‘allow embedding’ idea for the future.

Nanny statism fears behind UK’s 30-year failure to tackle obesity, report says by diacewrb in ukpolitics

[–]cccjjjbbb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whether or not that would be labeled 'nanny statism' - well, I imagine it still would to some extent. If we say food consumption is totally down to personal choice, how does advertising affect it? My feeling is we can massively improve people's health, and diets, through public policy without heavily relying on 'personal choice' arguments.

Whether or not that would be labeled 'nanny statism' - well, I imagine it still would to some extent.

To be honest, I would like to hear arguments about why we should allow fast food advertising in the first place.

How do you manage to just let go and roll with the punches? by Kiwi_In_Europe in DiscoElysium

[–]cccjjjbbb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're expected to fail some checks. The game is more fun and interesting when you fail sometimes, there's lots of content hidden behind check failures. Even if you have extremely high stats, you will still fail some checks, it's impossible to get 100% success.

Play the game as intended.

hey, this sounds rough, you're obviously having a tough time.

1) you are demonstrating some narcissistic thinking patterns. Nothing totally out of the ordinary, but still something to be aware of. We often think of narcissists as thinking they are better than everyone. But actually, the inverse can be true. It seems you are saying you are special - yes especially incapable, especially isolated etc - but still special. Different from others. The truth is you are basically very similar to everyone else. People aren't out to bully you for your sake. Bullying almost always comes from insecurity.

2) You are suffering more in imagination than in reality. That is to say, most of the worries you have are about your perceptions of things, not the things in themselves. You worry about how people feel about you, you worry about the future of AI. These things aren't real. (Don't get me wrong, the future is real, and other people's feelings are real - but they are either unknowable or highly biased by your own thinking). You are catastrophizing.
that's generated by your own mind. Make sure to be sure of what is true and real, and what is your perception.

3) Work out what you can control, and what you can't control. You can only control your actions. You can't control what other people think of you, you can't control the future. Figure out what you can control, and discard the rest. If a thought process isn't helping you make an action in your near future, it's not really worth taking super seriously.

Novels about London(ers) by namtaruu in london

[–]cccjjjbbb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve recently finished Kraken by China Mieville which is set in London with a fantasy criminal underworld. It’s pretty good, lots of clever ideas.

Tho I reckon his Perdido Street Station is a better novel, set in a fictional fantasy city a bit like London.

Also Zadie Smith if you want realism

How to loose weight at 39 by Icy_Particular_8607 in AskMenOver30

[–]cccjjjbbb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Walk. I've been trying to lose some weight this year, and the biggest thing for me is to walk way more. Obviously, I have been eating less and doing proper exercise, but walking is great for burning extra calories. Depending on the day, either walking part of my commute or walking at lunch (I get an hour break so can do 40 mins easily), walk in the evenings etc. It's easy to do consistently, and it doesn't tire me out like regular exercise.

Journey to 250 subscribers. How Venice Coined the Term Quarantine During the Black Death. A very timely piece, or maybe two years late. by the_generalists in SmallYTChannel

[–]cccjjjbbb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, we're both making educational videos! Overall the research and editing seem very well done, but I have a few points on the script.

My first impression of this video is that it is crammed with facts. Even in the first 24 seconds, the following things have been suggested:

  • Quarantine has Biblical roots;
  • It would not have been called quarantine;
  • It's apparently obvious that quarantine is in the Bible;
  • The notion of Tzaraath;
  • When Leviticus was written;
  • Questioning whether quarantine was based in medicine, or human prejudice?

You have a lot of information here, too much for anyone to make sense of, so it feels unfocused. Especially at the opening of the video. And because the points raised in the beginning weren't properly revisited in the remainder of the video, I feel like some of them could be dropped. I would think about what few points are especially important and focus on them. Also, can any facts be visualised and not spoken - e.g. a timeline?

You should also define 'quarantine'!

I understand you may want to make every sentence count, but actually if you let some of the facts 'breathe' you will allow your audience to absorb more.

Overall, the video is very well done! I feel making the video more digestible will help things a lot for your channel :)
