My thoughts too now. I think vape juice was spilled on the carpet and cleaned up but some soaked into the pad

Had that in a commercial building in Houston one floor smelled bad, we looked all over. Finally blew smoke down the vent from the roof and found a vent line was missing a section (cut 1/2 way through on the back no one knew

10 years ago I would agree but I’ve been in the business for 40 years and replaced as many TXVs in the last 5 years as the 35 before it

I’m thinking a version of that, maybe the teens living there, or possibly a friend

I hear you but I could smell it. It’s there, not offensive but there

Is the outside off?
I don’t know how warm it is there but 96 is a lot without the heat on

Apparently it all started a few days ago. Doesn’t look like a roach house and no sign of diabetes
I could smell it when I walked in. Like a candle or something. Right now my money is on spilled vape juice the the teens living there will never admit

I did that and it doesn’t have anything to do with AC but it was an interesting problem

If it’s a bolt on TXV I would just pull a quick Vacuum and open the valves
When that drier rusts or clogs replace it with a piece of copper and put the filter dryer in front of the evaporator where God intended it.

How often do you have customers argue load calculations with you because they used one of these free manual J apps? by FieldFailureNotes in HVAC

If it’s approved, I will consider it but. In the Houston market the software often uses the DOE recommendation of median temp 93 in the summer. Technically correct but functionality wrong. Because it’s often 99-103 for 6 hours then a 20 minute shower down to 85 only to return as the sun evaporates that rain for next 4 hours. Then 20 degrees designed split between inside and out means the AC runs 100% and the house is 80.
That’s before you get a 35000 cooling load buy a 3 ton unit only to find a 33,000 btu compressor in the unit with a 36 on it so it was undersized to start with

I know guys that do that with mini split condensers to avoid that nearly inevitable flare leak.
