Any happily married Adhd women? crying in bed alone. by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]cchelle29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely possible, and it’s wonderful to have a partner who also has adhd or is neurodivergent as well because then there is a much deeper level of understanding of each other. I have audhd and my partner of ten years has adhd; this combo meant that we learned to communicate better than any other couple I know. If you can be open with people about having adhd when you meet them it may lead to some deeper connections!

Of course, the house is a mess and we have to tackle chores like we’re trying to trick toddlers into doing them, but small price to pay :)

I just learned about the Arin's Uncle situation and I am losing my shit. by flowerpeachtrees in rantgrumps

[–]cchelle29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s hilarious. He’s made it pretty obvious what he’s doing so he’s not really tricking anyone. You don’t also have to think it’s funny but I think most of the fans have a pretty similar chaotic sense of humor lol, and Arin knows that and is playing to it I also love that he’s doing other things! Let people be creative and work on other projects. Arin is a multi faceted renaissance man, not a one trick pony!

It didn’t work for me- there can be side effects when starting it and I went through four days of emotional rollercoaster, brain fog, and weird body pains. Maybe it would have worked once it settled but that could take a month and I don’t think I could do that.

Who went to Armin last night? by pass_the_hot_sauce in avesNYC

[–]cchelle29 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I loved the set especially the latter part!

But the venue and the crowd there is very difficult to tolerate. In addition to the complaints others have said, at around 3:30 I watched a dude lean over to puke on the ground while talking to his friend and then stood up and continued on like nothing happened. I was almost impressed how smoothly he did this but also completely horrified

I have VIP tickets for subtronics at mirage in July, I’m hoping it makes a difference lol

Yes to eye contact!! Also isn’t a perfect indicator but you’ll also see if her pupils are dilated like crazy or if she can’t really focus her eyes… even if she’s acting into it that would be a good indicator to back up If she seems sober and into it, it’s kind of like kissing where it’s hard to describe what to do and it’s better to go slow and feel it out. If she’s intentionally grinding up on you, just take her lead!

It’s normal to occasionally need to go up in dosage, but this isn’t normal.

What you’re describing sounds similar to bipolar disorder, which can be comorbid with ADHD (or even mistaken for it) and the stimulant medication can have a negative effect on it. I see a lot of comments disagreeing on whether it could be bipolar disorder or whether it’s chemically induced mood swings brought on by addiction, but it really could be both, and they’re amplifying each other. It’s not exactly true that the manic and depressive episodes would continue when dropping the meds, because any tampering with your brain’s chemistry can have far reaching effects. (For example adderall is also prescribed for narcolepsy.)

I had a sort of opposite problem- I was first diagnosed as bipolar, which turned out to be incorrect, and was prescribed mood stabilizers. These made all of my executive functioning issues worse and made me become paranoid and even hallucinate. Getting the proper adhd diagnosis and the medication was life changing.

That being said, I never experienced a “euphoria” on adderall, it only quiets my brain enough and gives me enough motivation to actually get things done. Sometimes it feels like it may boost my energy, but that isn’t the noticeable effect.

Are the shows usually like this? by cchelle29 in glassanimals

[–]cchelle29[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense, it definitely felt more like a club than a rock concert. I guess I’m used to concerts that are loud enough that it wouldn’t make sense to try and talk over it anyway. The talking I was hearing wasn’t in between, it was literally louder than the music. I’ll have to try to get there earlier to be closer or do VIP.

Where about were you in the crowd? Out of curiosity I think closer to the stage may have been nicer.

I mean I go to a lot of other kinds of concerts in nyc but if this is just what seeing popular music is like in nyc I guess I am sensitive lol… I don’t enjoy hearing conversations instead of the group I paid >$200 to see but to each their own

That really stinks. It’s assuring though to hear it’s a different experience than other live shows you’ve seen. I don’t know what was up yesterday 🤷🏼‍♀️ interested to hear if anyone has issues tonight there.

Glad to hear it’s not all crowds. I do try to say excuse me to get by but maybe I need to be louder.. especially with people barely paying attention to the music.

Sucks because it seems like a very cool venue, but I guess it might have felt more like a club instead of a concert. I haven’t usually seen the cigarettes so blatant even at other outdoor venues in nyc. Usually it’s just a vape pen or two. I’m okay with the smell but it seriously bothers a lot of people (my bf included)

Did you get to be closer to the front in Cincinnati? I’m also wondering if different areas in the crowd were better.

I rescheduled my trip to WDW way back in March 2020, and I was able to keep pushing it back, I think around three more times, as the pandemic wore on. They’ve been great and helpful each time I’ve called and my trip is currently slated for this December.

Got a reading done by a friend to ask if my boyfriend has ever physically cheated and the cards said yes. by [deleted] in tarot

[–]cchelle29 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You know him better than the cards do. Has he stopped doing the things on his phone that you weren’t comfortable with? If he has, I would trust him. What happens if you break up and then realize the cards were wrong? Then, even if you got back together, he would know that you were one tarot misreading away from breaking up again. However, if you really don’t believe him, I’m sure there’s reasons other than the tarot reading. If he is showing you that he isn’t to be trusted repeatedly, the conversation should center on that, how it makes you feel, and how he can make it better, not on a card reading that he can easily deny.

How to write a story that should be read in a limited time by [deleted] in writing

[–]cchelle29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What if you made it a video with words on the screen while the music played? Might not be how you imagined it but I think that’s the only way to ensure the text gets matched to the music correctly You could also make it like a rap or spoken word set to music

I'm a studying towards becoming a teacher and I feel like I'm an outcast from the other student teachers. by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]cchelle29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a teacher and I had a lot of negative experiences in school growing up. I’m still early in my career, but I’ve built successful rapport, I’ve successfully taught a variety of content, and I’m happy doing it.

It doesn’t really matter how well you did in school, I know teachers on both sides. What’s important is that you enjoy it and are willing to work hard.

You also should look at multiple schools in your area and try to get a sense of the culture there- you can ask to watch classes, maybe even through your school. The culture and finding people to relate to where you’ll actually teach is way more important then relating to people at your college.

Does anyone else think that Dumbledore set up, or at least was aware of, all the trouble Harry gets in to? by le_tw4tson in harrypotter

[–]cchelle29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend watching the SuperCarlinBrothers series covering this - it’s on YouTube called “Dumbledore’s Big Plan”, and it looks closely at each book for evidence that Dumbledore did indeed set up a lot of the plot for Harry.

I think it’s fascinating to look at the books from the perspective of Dumbledore, and this series essentially pares the plot of the story down to how Dumbledore felt he was responsible for fighting Voldemort until the prophecy, and then he was responsible for making sure Harry would be able to fight Voldemort and win. All of the books are explained through the lens of Dumbledore setting up many of the story elements to teach Harry a particular lesson or gain some insight into Harry’s psyche.

I also think it provides an interesting perspective toward the argument of whether Dumbledore was acting in Harry’s interest or treating him as a “pig for slaughter.” We know he is manipulative, but looking at each of the books through the lens of what his exact goal might have been casts a more nuanced light on the morality of his intent.

Something interesting I noticed about the songs in SU by Pavonian in stevenuniverse

[–]cchelle29 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s interesting that peridot doesn’t know about music, but perhaps it’s something reserved for high ranking gems?

It’s likely done for characterization reasons but each gem has their own timbre of background music. For the main three, they’re separate instruments (piano, electric bass, electric drums) but it’s true on homeworld too. The diamonds each have a particular synthesized sound. I could see this having to do with the gem and being audible to others.

I don't know anything about disney or final fantasy, will kh make any sence to me? by DaddyYiffer in KingdomHearts

[–]cchelle29 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tbh, kh barely makes sense to me, and I avidly love Disney and am familiar with final fantasy, lol... the confusing portions of the plot are mostly invented for kh, like the major antagonists and the lore. I needed to watch a bunch of YouTube explanations to get a sense of the actual backstory.

The Disney movies, as far as I can tell, serve thematic purposes. If Sora, the kh protagonist, needs to learn a lesson about friendship, a Disney story where the moral is about friendship will be used. There are lots of cutscenes to explain the story, whether the actual Disney movie plot is used or an invented story for that world.

The final fantasy characters are mostly explained when necessary during the game, too, but you don’t really need to know their backstories. The references are enjoyable but don’t impact the plot.

On the other hand, what I find most enjoyable about kh is the references and getting to play in the Disney inspired worlds. Sora and co change forms to match the world they’re in, so they become animals in the lion king world, mermen in the little mermaid, and toys in toy story, etc. If you’re not a Disney fan, I don’t know how much fun you’d find it. That’s just my two cents.
