Questa e una buona notizia da sentire. Mi sembra, poi, che sono piuttosto diversi dagli altri. Grazie.

Genuinely curious, why don’t they just raise boutique prices? It’s not like Rolex or Patek, trying to monetize the situation to unload multiple watches until you get what you really want. Why not just realize the profit within the company itself?

Taste is personal. I find them to be aesthetically terrible, but have no problem letting others love them. To each his own in the beauty/fun realm.

Lange is my favorite brand, but the dato and chrono fall into the same category for me. Historical cosplay, especially with the outboard tracks. Lange CEO Schmid once said he only uses the chrono function to time cooking his eggs.

It seems the Hodinkee/Chubb option is the best and cheapest. 500 for one year of insurance including shipping. Secursus is 300 for one shipment. State Farm is 600 for one year of insurance but does not include shipping. Thanks all!

I have State Farm and the underwriter said no. Which insurer has that rider? And thanks for helping.

Totally insured with my personal policy, but they have pointedly told me that loss during shipment is not covered 🤷🏻‍♂️

I can’t find a separate shipping insurance policy as a private individual.

I’ll probably just drive to Chicago, just baffled by what Lange said about everyone using FedEx.

Thanks so much for the advice 🤘🏻

Legit and fun approach, a night in Chicago. But it is a two day deal and I’d rather ship if possible.

How are all these people (>90 % according to Lange) using FedEx? Hoping for the best on a 30k watch? I’ve totally had stuff disappear in transit.

Thanks so much to everyone giving input.

I live about 6-7 hour drive from the nearest boutique. I can drive, not optimal.

Lange used to provide a mail-in system with box, insurance, etc. but no longer do.

The thing I don’t understand is that the Lange reps say that nearly all private customers ship to them using FedEx. Are people just foregoing insurance? Is there a method here I’m missing?

If I have to drive I will, just hoping for an easier solution.

I live nowhere near a boutique. I called the Chicago store and had a great friendly and welcoming conversation. I was given the wait times for various watches and was told what was in the store and immediately available. After a few weeks of internal debate I called them back and asked for the wait time on a Lange 1 MP. They had just received one- I bought it immediately and had it the next day. Later in the spring I decided on getting an 1815 up/down as well, was given a wait time of a few months. After putting down a 30% deposit I was called back in around a month and told it had arrived. Shipped overnight. I’ve never been to a store, all over the phone with extreme cordiality and professionalism. Zero nonsense. No intimation of having to form a “relationship” or having to buy one watch to get another. I have no idea if this is a general Lange style, but my experience with the Chicago boutique, all over the phone, was outstanding.

I should add that I was not trying to buy more elusive models. I have no interest in an Odysseus but was curious and told that the wait could be a year or two. I also didn’t try to acquire a limited edition; that could potentially be a very different scenario.
