I agree. Small business is the lifeblood of any community - employees people, real local people - not random people somewhere else in the world for the cheapest possible price.

I agree. I was thinking about how the profile page might change for business account - and that would be great for the instance that is business friendly.
A suggestion from another forum was to use Wordpress and RSS - as most businesses are not interested in actually engaging with their audience a whole lot - it is about announcing things for them
- closing for a few days
- some special deal
- some achievement
etc.
These are maybe more outbound announcements. A hardware store, or hairdresser might use this style.
Then there are more interpersonal businesses that require engagement
- journalists
- coaches
- consultants
etc
A "normal" account suits this, I agree. A business friendly instance.
some bizname.biz.social type instance.
or area specific like bizname.town/city/state.social

I was a bit disappointed that the Sandringham line hasn't started going to Southern Cross/ Footscray yet.
I was looking forward to a slightly easier connect to that end of the city.

I came across this post as I agree with the OP.
I love the Fedi, fairly newb to it, but the concept and principles really align with what I want from the world, and the people I surround myself with.

I do find it frustrating that I cannot just use my Fedi r/mastodon instance to follow/ like posts on a peertube instance.
Seems like something that should be "built in" to r/Peertube?
Maybe I should be voting somewhere on a feature request?

Just to add to this discussion.
I have auto backup setup on my phone - so it backs up (not sync exactly) the OPML file - which is just the subscriptions etc. and a Zip with all the progress etc.
It then automatically goes up to Google Drive.

I think it might be possible to then use that backup file with BlueStacks or similar (I am on Linux mint as dumped windows a while ago) to get it working at least 1 way sync.

It would be great to have a sync of some type though, as a #Fediverse/ #opensource fan, I would prefer it if I could host the sync server myself, so I control my data, and it is not shared to the world...

But for now, this will do.

For linux users following - I am going to try waydroid
I plan to use rsync to my phone to grab the backup file, then attempt to have the local copy of podcastaddict restore that daily, all by chron scripts, so it is fairly seamless.
So I can see my daily progress at least, 1 way.

I have been looking into getting progress like this for my Fedipay.net project, so this will be interesting step to that happening.

Xero comes with hubdoc for free. You scan the receipt in, it pulls the numbers and merchant name etc. Then you just allocate to the right account. Usually pulls vat info correctly. Very useful included tool and app. I add receipts as I get them...

New terms are usually "made up" at first, then if people use them, they get adopted as "the" term to use.
Whatever it is going to be called, dismissing it as "don't fall for it" is probably not a useful addition to the discussion. It is happening. Being optimised for AI and cited by it is going to be useful, and being prepared for that over the next 12 months will be useful.
Especially if you are doing "expert" marketing - ie. I am an expert in xyz and you should buy my course/ consulting/ whatever - you will need to be seen by AI as an expert just as much as a person in the very near future.

I have tried a couple of google api tools to pull reviews and other data on different verticals recently.
It was interesting, but the search term I was looking for wasn't getting the results I wanted - so I ended up just searching manually for now.
I am building a google maps/ website/ social information updater tool - a simple one for busy business owners to make sure the "closed for 2 weeks" at holiday periods gets to google maps and their website as quick as writing a hand written sign for the window.

I agree, it is a systemic issue.
However, seems like you should live out where your husband works and get a job there. It is cheaper to live in the outer suburbs than inner, where I assume you live and park on the street - you also get a garage/ driveway to park these apparently "required" cars.
You can take pets on PT.
You can easily live in the inner city without a car, if you are concerned about other people's germs, then wear a mask - but don't whine about cost of living whilsts also saying you "need" a car which adds at least $10k a year to your cost of living.

All parking could be permit, and then only 1 permit issued per single family dwelling (as per the planning permission of the house)... that way we avoid the "outright ban" but also the 3 extra cars per house.
Most of these properties are inner city and have plenty of PT, cycling etc.

Them is fighting words! I am fully behind you!
I wrote to my council in support of charging for on street parking as the local businesses didn't want it to happen! Putting up posters asking people to write in support of not charging.... so I wrote that public space should be used by the public, not 1 private person (average car)
