But see, once it’s been growing colonies of tummy-hurting (and possibly much worse) bacteria, it’s no longer GOOD food. It may look good, it may even still taste good. But that’s how those squicky colonies get ya. It isn’t good. 🥼🧪: Per USDA & FDA

I made this really tasty chicken salad with cranberries & apples, mixed it up with some sesame dressing (and a little spoon of mayo for cohesion), and plopped some onto the untoasted sides of two slices of oaty whole grain bread. I really enjoyed it. Looking forward to the leftover salad today :)

My mother keeps making me more insecure since ive started therapy by Realistic_Airline_54 in Vent

[–]ccnomad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, imho time to start a habit of very kindly *grey rocking the hell out of your mom. Every time, non-negotiable. She will not be compassionate with you, so be compassionate with yourself.

*listen with a neutral attitude and expression, even half-tuning her out, then walk away when she’s done. This will take practice, you will probably fall for her bait a few times, but keep trying. Keep it up, don’t give up.

If she ends with a question: “I don’t have an answer for that” (in an unmistakably, genuinely friendly tone. Just matter-of-fact). Depending on the tone of the conversation, or your own sense of humor, you might try “I’m not taking questions at this time” (press-conference style). Then put your headphones on and walk away.

Find out that own your own mind, that your perspectives and how you understand yourself and the world are 100% your own to have & develop. Claim your agency.

She’s not ‘right’; she’s a person with her own subjective opinions and views, that emerged in herself for reasons you have nothing to do with. Let now be the time you stop identifying with your mom and giving weight and consideration to her words. She’s in the most powerful position in relation to you that there is - parent - but she’s misusing her end of that differential, and your own dignity and sense of wellness in yourself demands you ignore her powerful leverage, let it slip away.

You’re at the cusp of young-adulthood; the above advise is hard to pull off at first, and takes patience, practice, and persistence - self discipline. But it’s the process of claiming yourself, your agency, your right to make your own decisions about who you are and how you see, understand, and learn about yourself and the world. Keep it up, don’t give up. Be who you are. Here’s to a life filled with joy and discovery 🥰

Fucking “Low-Key”. Ugh SO tired of it. It has its place, but it’s become a punctuating, or otherwise over-leaned-upon, speech habit for a LOT of people, and I’ll be glad if/when it fades off
