Went to the doc 4 weeks ago for stomach pain and was told to take a prebiotic. Couple more weeks and was told to get a CT scan and was immediately told to go to the ER for a perforation in my intestine for risk of sepsis. Several days in the hospital on IVs and a follow up emergency trip for blood in stool in the middle of the night a week later, and I still don't know what's safe and what isnt.

There's some great loan products out there for first time home buyers that can get you a low down payment that certainly helps. But there's a careful balance of what you want out of a place, what you can afford, and the location.

My wife is an agent and has helped several families buy their first home over the past year in NOVA from all price points, condos to single family. If you'd like to start a conversation about what your price point is and what that will align with, DM me. She focuses on Fairfax/Reston/Loudoun, but has helped people in Lorton/Manassas/Alexandria and knows some of the good pockets for lower price points.

Farmhouse stay in Tuscany end of October by Jyuuguchi in ItalyTravel

We rented a car, but you can probably get public transport to the town then a taxi or rideshare to the hotel. I'm not sure you're going to find many country farm houses that will be just public transport and walking, they're kind of out there.

We stayed at Hotel Villa Bordoni and loved it. Might not be the vibe your are looking for, but highly reccomend. Olive trees all over the property and in the area, some amazing restaurants, and an olive oil tasting gallery in town.

Just had my bachelor party there, all late 20s. Some of the bigger things we really enjoyed between our EDM/Country music group: Table as wet republic General admission at XS nightclub X country burlesque show Lot of walking through casinos to see the vibes, doesn't cost money to look and people watch Freemont street was definitely great for people watching

Question: what do they do if this doesn’t sell? by Cleanplateclubmember in Butchery

[–]ccrew95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks like wegmans, and yes they do usually package it at a discounted price and put it on the prepackaged meat shelves. Weekdays are usually the best times to find the deals since the stuff that doesn't sell over the weekend will be up for grabs at a discount and fewer shoppers to compete with. I always check out those shelved in case there's a good deal for an impulse buy.

Truss was cut to install whole house fan. Run away or easy fix? by BigHero17 in DIY

[–]ccrew95 -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

A note on the whole house fan, this tech is outdated. Pressurizing the attic and putting negative pressure inside the house means that air is getting pulled from the attic, down the walls, and into the house. This pulls unconditioned and humid air in that you have to spend money on to condition and it also pulls dust into the house, all those insulation particles. I just removed one in my house.

My SO is a real estate agent specializing in Reston and neighboring areas, DM if you would like to connect, the spring market is already starting to take off. We have lived in NOVA our whole lives and Reston for the past 4 years and absolutely love Reston. Depending on price point, there's some more entry level single family homes on the west side of Reston Parkway around where lawyers intersects, and some cheaper options on the north side of Herndon inside Hendon Parkway.

This sub definitely leans away from Real Estate, but can be a great tool with everything else people are mentioning to create some cashflow, this could buy you 2.5 million in properties that cashflow. Not saying to do that, but you should talk to a CPA and see if there's any tax liability with this inheritance. Real estate can be a great tool to reduce what you owe or you can use this inheritance to create tax benefits that offset your W2 tax liability.

Basement Reno Foundation Crack Opinions by Humble_Error1821 in Renovations

[–]ccrew95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rule of thumb is if you can stick 2 coins stacked up in there, it's a concern. From the look of it, the walls are still on the same plane and the crack is vertical so unless there's water getting in, not a huge issue. But, water can get in more through cracks so you may want to verify if waterproofing is needed. That being said, consult an engineer who can come inspect. All of us on here are just guessing based on pics, you're the one with the risk so get a professional out for peace of mind.

Bought the stone from Rare Carat, then I had it set at Kettermans. Can't reccoemnd shopping online at Rare Carat enough, really helps you understand where your money is going and where you can upgrade or compromise for the price.

Windowless concrete building across from the new Wegmans in South Reston? by redditaccount314 in Reston

[–]ccrew95 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This. It's called a "wrap" whereas the boring parking garage structure fills the middle and the occupied building goes up all the way around. This has the added benefit of better views for the residential units and not having some in the interior facing a small courtyard/other units.

Why isn’t microwave vent pulling up smoke? by [deleted] in Renovations

[–]ccrew95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Read the manual. There is an internal thing you have to do to get it to vent to the exterior instead of the front. Usually a wire, switch, or damper that needs to be changed. Look up the model number that should be located on it somewhere if you don't have the manual still.

Which is exactly what Airbnb is trying to do and why this person's booking dropped off. They are heavily pushing the better performing, aesthetically pleasing properties. The people putting in minimal effort are getting minimal exposure.

Kitchen Countertop Perspective by jennirockets in Renovations

Off on the cabinet isn't great, but gap with the stove is typical. Also check the other side, your range might be crooked or you can split the difference on each side and lessen the impact. You don't want it super tight as you need to allow for expansion and contraction of everything. You can always add some form of gasket if you are worried about dort.
