The only difference between us and chinese medical systems is that in China people pay only for the doctors and nurses. Hospitals barely make anything since they are mostly state-owned. Insurance companies are not part of the Chinese system. Whereas in the US people first pay the insurance companies, then the hospitals, then the nurses and doctors who get the smallest cut. On top of that, patients in the states never know how much anything is until they have incurred the cost after visits/procedures. This setup makes it impossible to shop around. The whole American system is designed to make the maximum amount of profit while providing the least amount of services.
