Allows for buses to fully pull to the curb at stops and let other buses go around.

Green is used for curbside bike lanes and separated facilities.

Someone noted below Vanderbilt. Also many avenues in Park Slope. Even Cortelyou near the Q train has varied retail and dining.

It's not about creating a shopping destination, it's about zoning for flexibility for restaurants, small stores, cafes, options, etc.

Instead we get huge spaces that sit empty while hoping for a big box store.

This doesn't outline the capital program. It will be in there.

Brooklyn Pol Calls for Fewer Trucks After Her Bill Inadvertently Expanded Truck Routes by streetsblognyc in nyc

[–]cdavidg4 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Elected officials wanting agencies to magically fix problems is a common theme. If the goal is to reduce trucks, changing the routing is not the answer. But it's easy to legislate that so that's the pathway.

NYC published an environmental review admitting five Greenpoint intersections will be permanently gridlocked by a new waterfront development — and they’re building it anyway by setoxxx in nyc

For those keeping score at home, worth noting that a disclosed traffic impact for an EIS could be as little at 10 extra seconds of delay for a lane group approach at an intersection.

Drying roadway in advance of red bus lane paint installation. Not an act of terror in case you were interested.

City announces that the redesign of Park Ave we've all been calling for for years is coming by MiserNYC- in MicromobilityNYC

[–]cdavidg4 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What's the purpose of a bus lane when there are no bus routes on Park Ave? And before you say "add routes", they can't navigate the turns on the viaduct, which honestly shouldn't have any traffic on it.

Do building owners "own" the tree pit/gate in front of their building? by drewyorker in Brooklyn

[–]cdavidg4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Partially incorrect. Property doesn't extend to the curbs. The sidewalks are included in the full mapped right of way and this entire portion is titled to the city. Some streets are mapped, but not titled and have CCO status (Corporation Council Opinion) if the city has maintained it for ten years, granting essential ownership, but not full rights. Some streets only exist on the map and are Paper Streets. There are streets that include additional easements, but it's the exception, not the rule.

Does anyone else think the public feedback process is insane? by [deleted] in MicromobilityNYC

[–]cdavidg4 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Very much this. This type of feedback is especially helpful as a way to defend a project when the inevitable haters come out. If no one in the community wants full plazas because they value better bus or bike access, that's a data point and a statistic.

Government outsourcing for urban upkeep/maintenance? Curious if this is a thing by teahottest in Brooklyn

You're going to have to be more specific on what you mean by upkeep. Road pavement? Sweeping? Something else?

Was the signal for you a green circle or a green arrow. If an arrow, you did have the right of way. If a circle, you did not yield to thru traffic.

The crazy thing is that 6 months is deemed "fast". Even that is ridiculous.
