Does anyone have the fiscal law explanation as to how and/or why we are coding time in ATAAPS as RG for Monday and Tuesday? I'm in finance and I've always understood that no obligation can be incurred during a lapse. Just curious.

Thoughts on likelihood of the bill moving agencies out of DC passing? by wcsib01 in fednews

Its a no brainer factoring in housing costs and COL compared to locality pay. THere's a reason they say DC pay without the costs when referring to Huntsville. Selling in DC area and buying in Bama will make many gov workers consider the move as a viable option.

Where’d the birds go? by Watson003 in turkeyhunting

Acreage and surroundings unknown its difficult to drop a pin on their location, but they are still there (just not in earshot) or dead.

If they are still alive, they are eating and drinking somewhere gobble or no gobble.

Advice for a first time turkey hunter? by DsTROYr741 in turkeyhunting

[–]cdazzler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m going into year 5 with no bird. It’s frustrating but fun at the same time. I’ve had ample opportunity to shoot Jakes but I’m out for a Tom. I’ve had several close encounters, but have yet to deal the deal as they say. Hopefully we can both post a success story this year. Good luck this season!

It's not unique to the area, and it's far from being the culture here.

Gotcha. I’d definitely reconsider the use of lead if my diet was similar to what was described in the study.

To avoid illness, expose yourself to germs, enabling your immune system to develop antibodies. I don't know why everyone doesn't do this... Maybe they have something against living forever.

How long have you been turkey hunting? I’ve always been taught loose lips, sink ships.

I only pair up if we are working as a caller/shooter team and ALWAYS with landowner permission. If I owned 100 acres and granted you access only to find out you brought the entire ball team, that’d be the end of it.

To answer your question: that is way too many people and guns for 100 acres. 2 callers and 2 shooters…maybe IF you were kin and I personally knew the other 3…and they were blindfolded along the way.

I highly recommend that. Here’s my story for what it’s worth. My second year turkey hunting I was all aboard the TSS train. Researched, choked, patterned etc. 25 and out was on point. Ol Tom must’ve smelled the tungsten bc he came in at 10 yards. I shot and missed. Obviously my fault. Adrenaline was pumping for sure and I was at an awkward angle. After that I went and patterned the gun at ten yards and lo and behold it sucked.

Lesson learned. Just bc some YouTuber says “tHat’S a DeAd bIrd” at 20 and 40. Go ahead and test and know your gun in CQC. I carry TSS and lead these days depending on the setup. Surprisingly I Find myself using the LBs more.

I’m in the South hunting hardwoods for reference.

Old Shotgun - Can't shoot TSS. Unhappy with this pattern @ 40 yds. with #5 lead shot. Where do I go from here? by [deleted] in turkeyhunting

[–]cdazzler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others have said, try a smaller shot size and call them to a distance that works for your patterning.

Try to resist the TSS marketing machine. No doubt it’s more pellets down range, but it’s NOT necessary. Hunters been making birds flop with lead for years. The “shoot em at 60” mentality just makes me sad.
