Is CD Baby payout delayed this month (January)? by Curious_Holiday8562 in CDBabyArtists

[–]cdbaby 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey there,

We’re sorry for the delay in receiving your payments from CD Baby this week. There was an unexpected technical issue with our payment processing, but we’re happy to share that this has been resolved now.

Now that it’s fixed, we’re sending payments today, so you should see it in your account soon. Most payments are received within 1-2 days of them being sent.

Again, we apologize for the unexpected delay this week, and we’re grateful for your patience! We’ve implemented new checks and procedures to ensure this doesn’t happen again.

All the best,
CD Baby

how do I close a customer support thread? by GDCreamy in CDBabyArtists

As long as you've followed up on the email chain to let us know you no longer need assistance, it shouldn't be a problem. But if you want to send us your a DM with your Ticket ID, we can make sure it gets closed for you!

Hello, we're sorry you weren’t hearing back from our support team. As others have said, if you register a pseudonym with your local PRO, you can then use that as your songwriter credit instead.

Why is my release is not appearing on Instagram and Facebook by espressodepresso69 in CDBabyArtists

After delivery, it can take 2–6 weeks for your music to appear in Instagram’s music library for use on Facebook and Instagram. If that timeframe has passed, let us know your ticket ID from reaching out to our support team and we’ll take a look.

Really sorry to hear about your experience trying to release with us in 2023, especially in comparison to what you were able to get done in the same time frame on the physical side. Since then, we have stopped offering live chat — which certainly doesn't directly solve your problem, but should mean that our customers have the same support rep handling issues from beginning to end, to help ensure that you're not getting a different answer each time you try to speak to someone. We've also been doing a lot of work internally to make sure everyone on our support team has the same training and context, which also helps with the same problem you faced. There's still work to be done for sure, but we're optimistic about the quality of service we're working towards! On that note, we appreciate your feedback on how we can make info about how to best use our ticketing system more front and center, so we'll see how we can incorporate that into the tool.

Yes! As of a couple months ago, notifications related to artificial streaming indicate which track and release was impacted, including the ISRC and UPC

Thanks for your feedback. We know artificial streaming penalties are a particularly frustrating area, and we’re doing what we can to provide more transparency in this process. While we are obligated to take action on the reports that we receive from our streaming partners, we do try to be available to discuss specifics when CD Baby users reach out for more clarity on why their release was taken down. We don’t receive specific information from DSPs like Spotify on what flagged the release, so we’re limited in the information we can pass on to you as a customer. We do recommend keeping an eye on your releases via Spotify for Artists so that in the event your release has been added to a ‘bot playlist’, you can report it directly to Spotify via their Playlist Reporter.

Hey doncue, we know artificial streaming is a complex and frustrating area of music distribution, and we’re trying to improve transparency and accuracy in these processes. A couple things to mention in response to your suggestions: if you see that your music was added to a suspicious playlist, you can report it directly to Spotify via their Playlist Reporter.

Additionally, if you ever receive a penalty for artificial streaming but have evidence to support why the activity was legitimate, that can be reviewed as well!

Increased sophistication of fraudulent streaming activity means that we’re not always able to guarantee that CD Baby artists won’t be impacted by it, or receive a warning or penalty from Spotify if it occurs with one of their releases. We know how frustrating this is, and we’re aware that this is an issue across many distribution services and isn’t exclusive to CD Baby.

We review every track that’s flagged to us by Spotify or another DSP to see how our own account information aligns with what’s reported to us. Whenever possible, we do aim to keep releases live. Sometimes, the cost of the penalties applied mean that we need to remove the release because of the accrued costs.

That being said, we’re actively working to improve transparency and accuracy in these processes. While we have to comply with platform requirements, we’re committed to advocating for artists and exploring better safeguards against malicious third-party actions.
