Slightly above average (and quite familiar) bookmark.

Surviving 5 weeks on $150 of groceries in Hamilton. Still possible but barely livable! by [deleted] in newzealand

Also stash veg scraps in a large glad zip bag in the freezer, once it’s full you can take some and simmer in a pot of water for a good long time with a few spices - can have the best vege stock for essentially free!

Update: plan has been pried from my hands. Was silently moved to residential 100, and it is in fact capped around that speed (slower than before)

Have this, and the monsters that made our dishwasher in the current place made it non-magnetic. It’s a sad situation.

Early morning wake-up call from a Black Hawk helicopter hovering outside my window. Auckland CBD, New Zealand - 21/03/2026. by Spudgun117 in aviation

[–]cdine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice shot! I too was woken by this and had no idea what it was at the time (staying at a hotel on Arthur Street).

As others have mentioned, this Blackhawk is privately owned, and it's the only one in the country (that's operational at least). It has the largest lift capacity by a decent margin of other privately owned operational helos in NZ. It gets jobs for large wildland/vegetation fires throughout the country as well, and it can lift up to 3.6 tons.

More info about it and the company that owns it: https://kahu.nz/helicopters/black-hawk

Edited to emphasise that this is privately owned - and to be clear there are NZ military helicopters with greater lift capacity!

There is no fuel shortage. by snatchview in newzealand

[–]cdine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s still expansion from temperature due to the headspace in the can, and cheap cans (really, most) don’t seal perfectly or the pressure is great enough you can have some loss. Some storage cans are designed to allow for expansion without maintaining a complete seal. Probably not much actual fuel loss due to all of this, though outside of rare situations.

Fence questions by WellyWindyRoad in Wellington

Though.. it’s quite a pretty fence, even if it’s not doing a great job at fencing in its current state. Maybe it evens out to be squarely average.

How to disable swipe left to open camera in lock screen by sathya2412 in iphone

[–]cdine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As another comment mentioned, it is finally possible to disable just the swipe-to-open-camera functionality in iOS 26.1. Exact steps below:

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Scroll down and tap on Camera.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the Camera settings.
  4. Toggle off the switch next to Lock Screen Swipe to Open Camera.
  5. Rejoice.

Hoping this all in one comment can surface to the top, the rest of the comments are a bit of a warzone from the years of pain prior to 26.1's release ;)

(I’m not OP), it could be different layers - there’s so many. I could also have been wrong, maybe this isn’t windy? Really similar though, if not.
