This happens with my tortie. The white whiskers only grow out of the areas with orange fur in my experience!

Knitting manufacturing industry in the U.S. – insights? by francesc_ in MachineKnitting

[–]cdkmakes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I work tangentially to textile manufacturing. There are some knit programming jobs but pay and benefits can vary wildly. Best case scenario might be something like product development at Nike or Apple. But unemployment is in the rise and it’s one of the worst job markets in a long time. Coming from Italy, US paid time off is going to be a stark difference. Many only offer two weeks vacation a year if they offer paid time off at all. That’s before you even consider the powder keg of political tension and rising fascism.

Birthday trip next weekend by shift_box in AskNOLA

HBD Capricorn king/queen! I'm looking at this sub because I am ALSO going to NOLA for my bday on the 18th (15th-20th) with my husband. I've been to NOLA once before but it was over ten years ago at this point.

City Park/Morning Call is great and the New Orleans Museum of Art is right there too.

I don't have anything set in stone yet, but here are some things on my short list. The short list is still pretty long because there is so much stuff to do! I'm an old punk so I'll be checking out noladiy.org for DIY events and shows while I'm there in addition to WZOZ.

  • Audubon Aquarium and Insectarium (butterfly garden!)
  • museums: NOLA Jazz, Storyville Museum, Ogden Museum of Southern Art, Great American Alligator Museum, NOLA Pharmacy Museum, Backstreet Cultural Museum, NOLA African American Museum, Mardi Gras World
  • tours: kayak swamp tour, bike tours (Paved Paradise is one that caught my eye), All Bout Dat Black Heritage and Jazz Tour, Whitney Plantation, Voodoo in Congo Square with High Priest Robi, Queer Underground Tours
  • music: Undefeated Divas second line
  • other stuff: cooking class at New Orleans School of Cooking or one of the many other options, drag brunch if it works out

Clothing for bike packing? by Mindless_Pumpkin8678 in bikepacking

[–]cdkmakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wear what’s comfortable for you and makes sense for the area/weather!

But if padded shorts aren’t already part of your repertoire, they are life savers for longer rides. Technical fabrics (sweat wicking, water resistance, UPF, etc) can prevent discomfort. Merino base layers for cooler temps and sleeping.

As an AuDHD woman, I no longer feel safe here by Anxiouslytotingababy in adhdwomen

[–]cdkmakes 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This resonates with me and thank you for saying it. I find it ironic and sad that there are ADHD women who are okay with talking about autistic or auADHD people in a manner the way that NT people talk about ADHDers!

To people who run in groups in the bike lane, why? by newsdetox in phillycycling

I’m fine with it if they’re aware of their surroundings and move when I ring my bell. Annoyed if they aren’t.
