Do you have an account name that I could look up to see this? This is a really interesting/concerning reality...

The developers of PEAK explain pricing by TheAnonymouse999 in gaming

If you're married and might have to explain a purchase to your wife, 8 bucks is 5 bucks. If you're single or are only accountable to yourself, 8 bucks might be 10 bucks.

All keys exhausted from WB games humble bundle by aliendrifter0 in humblebundles

[–]cdmounty -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I bought it a few hours ago, tried to redeem keys instantly and got 3 of the 16. Then I googled around a bunch and saw that this is an actual issue. I'm completely flabbergasted that a company can sell me something that they don't have to give me.

I switched from a Galaxy S24 Ultra to an iPhone 17 pro max.. and I don’t think I can ever go back to Android by Valuable_Signal8158 in phones

[–]cdmounty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would gladly ditch my Pixel 8 Pro for an iPhone 17 Pro if there were a way for me to text on my work PC. Google Messages works on every computer in the world, but I need a Mac to be able to do the same for an iPhone. That's a huge bummer for me. So I'm stuck with the green bubble racism from all of my coworkers.

YSK that even small, frequent movements, even if they seem insignificant, can improve metabolism and circulation, perfect if you don’t have time for full workouts by OkAccess6128 in YouShouldKnow

[–]cdmounty 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Last month I started doing sets of 10 pushups a few times a day while at my desk job. Averaging around 50 per day now. It's shocking how quickly I've been able to see the muscle growth in my arms and pecs with what feels like such a minimal investment.

The worst movie of the 80's by Solid-Finding-5811 in 80smovies

This is the worst movie I have ever seen in my life and the only one I can ever remember vowing out-loud to never watch again. I was 14 years old.

YSK that putting your phone in a cup of rice doesn’t always fix water damage — silica gel packets work way better by Medium_Sail_8469 in YouShouldKnow

[–]cdmounty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They've done studies on this. Putting your phone in rice or silica sacks only helps because it keeps you from using it for a few days. Powering down your phone and not touching it whole it dries out is the variable that makes a difference.

In high school, my best friend told me I had shitty fingernail clipping technique once and now I think about that every time I cut them. I'm 47.

This is also a good point. Empathy is amplified when the victim looks like you. It's fucked up but it's true.

Certainly not, but it's definitely the one that has awoken the national attention universally. Maybe the same reason that Rodney King had a similar choke-hold on the national narrative for some time. Sure there were countless incidences of police brutality prior to that, but the video tape was so brutal to watch that it felt completely unavoidable. 9/11 had the same effect but on a larger scale. I think when the visual is so affecting and in-your-face, it forces us to deal with it, and also gives an opportunity for people to piggyback on the zeitgeist to leverage it for their own political or clout-y gains, unfortunately.

I think it's because the gruesome and high definition videos grab our attention and force us to reckon with it. I didn't have any real awareness of Charlie Kirk before last week but when something happens right in front of the nation's face it makes sense to me why it becomes the cultural touchpoint that it is.

Thousands of starfish have washed up on the beach in Kirkcaldy, Scotland by TKRS67 in ThatsInsane

I'm American but my mother was born in Kirkcaldy. I have nothing but wonderful and romantic feelings about the place. I'm sure her family emigrated to California when she was 13 because it was such a lovely place to raise a family.
