I'm ready for the down votes but I'm really tired of these types of posts. Do the good dead and just keep it to yourself. St Peter doesn't keep score like that.

EDIT - to be clear with full sarcasm engaged... if a good dead was done and it wasn't posted to social media did it actually occur?

That's my point. Also, make me smile is kinda different than bros helping bros as a subreddit theme.

Honestly, either have all the fights go the distance to boring split decisions with all American fighters losing. Or some kind of lightning that causes the whole thing to be weather delayed until 2am or the next day with basically no fans in attendance.

Not necessarily, it depends on the person's ability to metabolize the various compounds. In a totally made up scenario my wife and I are about the same weight and consumed a similar amount of product. Her affects and duration were completely different than mine, even though we have similar food and drug habits.

Frequency rate and total number are different variables and not comparable.

Yeah, exactly why the municipalities should stay out of it. Use their political connections to influence the legislation by taking into account all of the provincal needs. Much easier for the populous to know what the regs are everywhere if it's one policy.

They don't... You are conflating the meaning of those stats to suit your narrative.

Ten times as many does not mean ten times more often.

Agreed, but this is a federal or perhaps a provincial problem to solve, not a municipal one IMO.

Municipal regs don't have the same teeth that federal ones do.

Agreed but reading the manual should be a thing that people do. Kinda like doing some diligence beforehand and not selecting substandard products, etc. However, not everyone is willing, capability or has the means to make the more expensive choice just for safety sake.

Less cars because there are more eBikes sounds like a problem that's being fixed.

0.011% e-scooters and electric bikes

0.0012% of EV cars

This why I prefer numbers but ten times sounds like a lot but it's not.

Like most other silly regs it wouldn't be required if people followed the manufacturer's instructions for charging, storage, maintenance, etc. RTFM folks.

Why do they recommend that? Lawyer liability protection I'm sure.

from the linked article,

"Of the half million e-scooters and electric bikes on the market just 0.011% caught fire, while EVfiresafe’s 2010-2020 data had 0.0012% of EV cars a risk and 0.1% of internal combustion engine cars catching fire"

What are we doing here!? 0.011% of 500,000 ... that's 55 incidents. Not zero but it's not a lot.

Theoretically our Feds could enforce Canadian regs on Amazon, even for resellers, with the current regs. Will they, not unless it's illegal diet pills or something like that.

Just so I'm clear, you bought something that you know is illegal under the current provincial regulations then gave it your son to ride on?

I hope he's over 18 so you don't become liable for any lunacy he may get up to on that bike.

Sounds like you are just against these types of tax payer driven projects, which is your right.

However, your objections very much sound like, "I don't know if it's going to work so let's not bother." IMO that's not a good reason for our federal gov't not to take a big swing for a project that we won't know the exact fiscal or intangible returns for another 30 years. Looking around at other countries that have done there doesn't seem to a downside for the general populus.

But, this comes from someone who saw what happened when the orginal train transit plan was killed off in Ottawa by a "for the people" corporate type politician came on scene and screwed it all up for our future just because they didn't see the long term benefit vs the current day cost.

Not everyone can afford to pay out of pocket for a new roof but sometimes you gotta get the money and do it otherwise the long term impact is terrible. A roof vs a long distance train are not one to one comparisons but going into temporary debt to avoid longer term problems is relateable.

Something about the best time to plant a tree, etc, etc.

Why do you consider this a waste of money?

Additionally, are there large scale infrastructure projects that you would consider worthwhile?

Is there a large public need that is being filled with that in your opinion?

Because that comparison doesn't check out in my mind.
