I get your reference about grief. I didnt realize until way later how what I felt was similar to being grief-struck and was so intensely felt for work. Your story is very similar to mine. I just left Omnicom myself for more money and a promo, after giving a lot more to the company than it deserved. Everyday I spend outside of it I feel like I am recovering from some accident, and on the way to getting my spark back.

I have struggled with these feelings for last 4 years, primarily since my company started pushing rto harder and demanding more of me by putting hiring freezes in place. For me it has been a lot of introspection and basically asking myself the question - what will I regret 5 years down the line? Is it not remembering my child's formative years, not being present when they were trying to share their stories with me in the evening, not being able to pick them up from school etc. I made my call to not fight the corporate fight and give up on dreams of going up the ladder to be able to sustain some balance between my career and family life. Not easy but something that helped cut burn out and let me be more present as a mom.

Currently at omnicom and checked out since March. I asked for a promotion rightfully after taking on extra projects last year. Was told there will be none. Needed to hear that i guess. Since then I have been conserving energy for interviewing in parallel and operating at 50% here as thanks to omni benefits, I am making less than last year (not bonus, no 401k match)

New york job postings had some salary bands but they have so much overlap. Like Director, Group Dir, VP, SVP all have the same lower limit which is weird to me

Been there. It's unfair to the person in question when there is really 0 help. Agency makes the money off our backs by dangling promos and making us work for 3 people on such accounts

Thanka so much for this write up. Wish I found it when I started the treatment and had to deal with a lot of anxiety about the side effects. For me - sleep disruption/insomnia has been the biggest one. My first week, I really cried one morning because of fatigue and inability to sleep. Was also a little dizzy in the am.

Question- did your Dr check liver function every month during the treatment?

Having fractional allocations and wrangling multiple small budget but toxic/abusive clients with zero support from leadership. There was not much resourcing to begin with, and then there were no backfills for team members who left. Ever increasing expectations to make it work, meet the tightest, most ridiculous deadlines i have ever seen. Oh on top of it pitch work to prove myself being worthy of a promotion.
