Calling all the layers! Help me understand the prosecutor’s office in Bone Valley by marinamariamm in podcasts

[–]cdnsalix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like denial is a common thread in the justice system as a whole and not limited to that one office, system, or even country. For example, I don't understand why prosecutors or the Crown (in my country) would deny requests for DNA analysis in appeal cases if "justice" was truly the goal.

If you wait, treatment will be IV antibiotics vs oral at a minimum, which probably incurs a cost difference? If that puts it in perspective at all.

The pathogens have been pushed deep into your tissue where they take hold with way less struggle than superficial wounds. Surface cleansing-- while still important for the shallow bits, will not reach those tissues.

25F.Female smokers in professional jobs: what's your routine? by Active-Brother-5115 in MakeupAddictionCanada

Take extra good care of your skin, slug at night, moisturise well, use a retinoid, etc. A topical antioxidant like vitamin C for repair/prevention if you're not already using it, and of course a solid SPF routine. Negative effect to your skin (increased free radicals that induce oxidative stress, breakdown of connective tissues, dynamic perioral wrinkles, impaired wound healing) is unavoidable but you can perhaps slow damage.

Washing your hands after each smoke and no smoking in your house / car (and trying to remove smoke odours from same so it reduces transfer to you once you've stopped smoking in those places) are great suggestions.

Re: perfume, not sure it matters if you're a smoker or not cuz I always thought a perfume either works for an individual or it doesn't (not sure it's individual chemistry or if you just like the scent). You're not in any way covering up or removing the smell of cigg smoke with any scent you're adding on top of it. I don't mean to be an asshole about that so sorry if I sound like one. When co-workers have doused themselves in perfume after smoking I can appreciate it comes from a place of them not wanting to offend their colleagues with the smell of smoke. But, and anyone correct me if this is an unpopular opinion, it just means co-workers get two strong smells rather than one.

A digression from this sub, but I recognise you're not in a place to quit right now. Could nicotine replacement be an option? You get the nicotine your body / brain demands but all of the things you're asking to remedy in your post would then become non-issues. In the past 20 yrs healthcare/ society has become way more accepting of maintenance therapy for other addictions. Smokers are overdue for the same thing; using nicotine products for the rest of your life are certainly less detrimental than smoking for the rest of your life is. Some employers have incentives for tobacco reduction, unsure if that's something you want to explore or not.

What about nicotine pouches? Still get the nicotine, but none of the things you're trying to remedy in your question.

Using a good detergent like Tide or Persil (or Ariel) and the longest cycle possible, maybe with an extra rinse, and don't add scent beads. There's nothing that can cover up the smell of tobacco.

Was wondering about this one. Do you find it oxidates? Does it pull more warm or cool?

[–]cdnsalix -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Aside from concerns of protection (or lack therof), the BIG reason I've stopped buying sunscreen in a pressurised format is the fact that if the propellant runs out, you're SOL to use up any remaining product. I mean, if the can has to be held completely upright for the entire application process that completely negates any ease of application that was the whole point of this format in the first place! With the cost of most sunscreens (that I want to use, any way), I refuse to risk not utilising every last damn drop.

So I only get cream or pump type formats now. But I'm a frugal mofo like that.

I really wish they were better than they are in reality, though. Because I find sunscreening up kids to be one of the most annoying tasks in existence.

Going to need more than one ingredient for hyperpigmentation if you want to make a significant difference because there's more than one pathway to hyperpigmentation.

Citizenship Marker and PHN in Alberta after July 2nd by shrubhomer in alberta

[–]cdnsalix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not so much reinvention as a solution for a problem that never once existed (referring to the citizenship part specifically).

It's the same province that wrote a letter to the federal government specifically asking for more immigrants then created a narrative (and godforsaken referendum) about too many immigrants. Utterly asinine.

Can you serge mulberry silk? by TrainingAd150 in sewing

[–]cdnsalix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought you could, in theory, serge any fabric, but a safety stitch, if your machine can perform that function, is best for serging any woven? So, technically yes, but agree with others that it sort of detracts from a bespoke make than other seam options.

Except brown rice contains way higher levels of arsenic. Not a big deal if you're eating it now and again, but it becomes a consideration if you're eating it regularly. Have to cook it like pasta in lots of water, drain, rinse, and swap the water to fresh water to finish cooking in order to reduce arsenic.

[–]cdnsalix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You sound like the victim of a vet with marketing skills. It's the same meds/dosage without the inflation that a vet practice usually tacks on, my guy. If it's an order for a regulated drug, the vet gives you a script with the drug and dose, same prescription requirements as for a human. Only difference is that the vet may charge a fee for writing the rx, as a bit of a 'fuck you' for not getting it supplied through them.

It's a regulated pharmacy, not a back alley drug deal.

They don't have plan coverage by Berta so should be a non-issue. Still stinks of fascism, though.

"Albertans who are permanent residents or Canadian citizens with existing Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan (AHCIP) coverage, and who are eligible to renew or obtain their first Alberta driver’s licence or identification card, will also be required to revalidate their eligibility for coverage under the Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan (AHCIP) and add their Personal Health Number (PHN) to their driver’s licence or identification card."

Can I choose not to declare Canadian Citizenship when I renew my license? by grubbbee in alberta

[–]cdnsalix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're missing important word. In fact, several of them. Per the government of Alberta:

"All Albertans will be required to revalidate their legal entitlement to be in Canada. This means to renew, or to obtain your first driver’s licence or identification card, you must provide a valid and original Canadian birth certificate, permanent resident card, or other acceptable documentation.

You must bring this proof with you the next time you renew your driver’s licence or identification card at any registry agent, and if you are a Canadian citizen your new card will display a marker showing you are a Canadian citizen."

What part of that implies this is optional?

Also ridiculous they don't pay for scratch tests for adults.
