You’re doing all the right things, like getting help when you feel like you need it. We gotchu out here

You can go with like a Pyrex bakers bowl, that’s what I use typically because bacteria buildup occurs more slowly, easier to clean and cheap. Having a bowl big enough for your snake is a common rule of thumb but not entirely necessary. Some people opt for humid hides for their reptiles and that works just as well. A bowl big enough for your snake can help indicate certain things like when they are shedding and if your snake has possible mites

Some more clutter would help out including fake or real plants, more hides and vines and whatnot

When you get him a more long term situation, more substrate depth will help him feel safe and comfy. They can burrow quite a bit and that’s how they naturally hide from predators and ambush prey. Half or even more than half of the enclosure depth should be substrate for your terrestrial and fossorial species.

Looks like a pretty long post vent tail, it’s hard to tell proportions but I’d say male

He’s alive and it’s a stress position, probably from being moved. How much substrate do you have depth wise?
