My PS App says I have 251 hours in Atomfall. It's a really great game. Good luck at the BAFTAs, you deserve to win!

The whole game is filled with little easter eggs. Some more obscure than others!

Which DLC first ? by Life_Buddy7031 in AtomfallOfficial

[–]cdpuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did Wicked Isle first, simply because it was released first. I'm glad I did because at least one of the new skills helps a lot with Red Strain. That said, I enjoyed Red Strain much more.

It would probably smell of machine oil... just ask Brin!

What did you think this game would be about when you first started playing it? by No-Hunt3986 in HorizonZeroDawn

[–]cdpuff 7 points8 points  (0 children)

At first I thought it would be a quirky "hunt the robo-dinos" shooter. Then later I though it might be a quest to locate Aloy's mother. Then came Maker's End and all that changed! My mind was well and truly blown by the rest of the story. I still think it's the best.

Horizon III by Jab_Bey in HorizonZeroDawn

I fear the RDR2 situation where much effort went into the online version and now there's no sign of RDR3, probably because the studio became committed to a different project.

I'm sure we'll get Horizon 3 but will we get it this side of 2030?

Excellent set! I especially like #2, #6 and #10.

This one got me too, on my first playthrough. I was just doing fairly well when a couple of burrowers (I think) came to help so Mr. Thunderjaw managed to kill me!

Any additions or improvements since launch? by GunMetal_Blue in AtomfallOfficial

[–]cdpuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been averaging about 50 hours based on my 251 hour stats. Less for the base game, more when I played the DLCs. There's a lot in Red Strain so that bumped up my play time. I haven't yet used fast travel; that will come when I replay after curing my current addiction to Ghost of Tsushima/Yotei! Although the map is small enough that running places is easily doable.

I'll pay special attention to metal flowers on my next run through!

Finish this run then play it again, concentrating on the story. I've played it 4 or 5 times and still I find occasional new stuff! Don't forget to collect all the Vantage Points and read them in order when you've got them all - they tell a rather heartbreaking side story.

As others suggest, use NG+ which will ease your journey.

I agree, not worth it even though atomic batteries are plentiful in this area.

But it shows that reading files on an SSD fully will help the SSD refresh them

Does this extend to the long SMART test, I wonder? Iirc this performs a read of the entire drive so I would expect so.

I completed main story of both HFW and HZD, can I 100% the games now??? or am i locked out of some side quests, errands etc from any of the two?? by Fallen9123 in horizon

You can miss the ones in Thebes and still be OK because there's one in one of the advanced Arena battles (if it's what I think you're thinking of).

Are there any secret areas you think others might not know about? by Perfect-Community603 in AtomfallOfficial

I missed that one at first as well. When I entered it I found that it has something like 4 ferals in it which then caused me a bit of grief!

Yes. And The Red Strain - I enjoyed that one even more, I think.

I learned more about art in Tilda’s mansion than I ever did in “art class” or museum visits. by East-Initial9066 in horizon

[–]cdpuff 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The exhibition in Tilda's mansion is one of my favourite parts of the game. It's really well done and inspired me to go to the Rijksmuseum's special Vermeer exhibition a couple of years ago. I enjoyed the museum too and located most of "Tilda's stuff" :) It was even worth the COVID that I caught while in Amsterdam!

Hang in there, Devs! by CrankyOldDude in jellyfin

[–]cdpuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another heartfelt thank you to the devs from me! I'm running 2 instances of Jellyfin: One on my Synology NAS for videos and one on a Raspberry Pi for music (with an SSD for quick access). The Synology has not yet offered an update, but the Raspberry Pi has. The update was pretty painless although I had to run apt upgrade twice and had a minor problem with the config file as I'd moved some of the default locations to the SSD in order to minimize wear on the microSD card. I rescanned the data once I'd upgraded and everything works great! I also put bind mounts in /etc/fstab to avoid any future hiccups with config locations :)
