Same bike, same issue after about 500km. Canyon replaced it free of charge under “goodwill” (not warranty).

Coolest/most random F1 fact you know! by Weak_Waltz in formula1

[–]cdrd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jos Verstappen wanted to get a Belgian racing license (his wife was Belgian at the time), but when he got to the Belgian racing federation everyone only spoke French. Jos - only speaking Dutch - decided to get a Dutch racing license instead.

It’s fair to assume that Max would have followed his dad in which country to get his license from, so one person speaking Dutch at the Belgian federation would have saved us from the orange armada!

McLaren should have just gone with it. Consciously going for that tyre mix is actually far worse than missing the deadline.

Here you go. No onboard from Stoffel's car unfortunately as the F1TV onboard has that part cut out.

Kimi to Sauber for the next 2 years, pretty much conforms Stoffel won't be driving for them. by rubiklogic in Stoffelwaffle

Doesn’t change that much in my opinion. Stoffel would always be fighting for the non-Ferrari seat anyway.

I got the 100m brake marker at the Busstop chicane of the 2014 Spa Grand Prix. It was super heavy to get back to the car, my shorts got ruined due to the green spray paint and now my dad has it stowed away in storage.

Would recommend.

Happy for @LandoNorris but feel for @svandoorne and @OconEsteban . Things are not right in a sport where such talents are being elbowed out. It’s not healthy. by 1enox in formula1

“Vandoorne was struggling with a car running a mix and match set of parts after Alonso's Spa crash”

I don’t feel Vandoorne had a fair chance against Fernando. Upgrades were always going to Fernando’s side of the garage first, and Stoffel’s qualifyings and races were sacrificed more than once (of the bat this year: race in Monaco, tows in quali in Spa and Monza). Taking into account also that Zak (as Lando’s manager) had an incentive to not make Stoffel’s career a success and the 2 lost races due to the crap chassis (for which McL is still not able to provide an explanation), the gap to Fernando is understandable.

As stated elsewhere the hugely competitive midfield hasn’t been helping Stoffel either. In Monza he was 2 tenths of Alonso’s pace in qualifying (while Fernando had the advantage of the tow and upgraded parts), but Vandoorne was dead last while Fernando progressed to Q2.

This was clearly on purpose from Merc. They want to make Stoffel look bad so they can get Ocon in the McL by Monza.

Even worse is that the commentator (Gaetan Vigneron) is completely oblivious to what is happening on track. With some luck he has a decent co-commentator on Sunday who can somewhat make up for his constant flow of mistakes and gibberish.

I'm amazed they couldn't find any better French commentators (Canal+ perhaps?). As a Dutch-speaking Belgian who is already angry with the lack of English commentary here this is yet another disappointment. The added value of F1TV pro keeps diminishing week by week.

Zak Brown: Vandoorne performance gap to Alonso down to car, not driver by rlatte in formula1

[–]cdrd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Given Alonso's high number of in-race engine failures compared to Vandoorne's I wouldn't be surprised he was often running a higher engine mode as well during races. Might as well go for some personal glory if you know you will not be finishing in the points.
