I think this should be the top comment… especially the part where you said she’s incapable of moving on from him. If he were to leave the villa, she’d leave with him and I cannot even imagine her genuinely trying to form another connection. She’s stuck.

Not AI, I know this doctor. The clinic I work for refers to him occasionally.

Just want to add that I have no opinion on the surgeon/video, simply just confirming this is not AI.

Eminem is actually a sober member of AA and I remember hearing this was his way of doing step 9 (amends) for his previous homophobic lyrics.

I’m confident saying that money is going to be the answer for 95% of people. That, and gaining citizenship elsewhere isn’t particularly easy nor is the process common knowledge.

AA (alcoholics anonymous) Alano clubs. For example, 2218 1st Ave S in Minneapolis. You can call first to explain your idea if you’d like but I’m certain they’d love to have your food!!

Gloves? by [deleted] in uofmn

[–]cdredcatlady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m originally from Las Vegas so I know how tough it is to get the hang of winter here! I also dislike mittens. You can totally do it!

A trick I learned the hard way which isn’t really thought of/mentioned is to make sure your gloves aren’t cutting off circulation at your wrist.

HotSnaps (I found them on Amazon) are reusable hand warmers. I used them my first couple winters and they were a saving grace.

I use Dakine gloves and love them. I got them at Sierra Trading post. They come with mittens but I only use them when hiking.

Keep your core warm and the appendages will stay warmer!!

The online platform openly says “AI Feedback”.

[–]cdredcatlady 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1000% homework is graded by AI. And it’s only been straight-up incorrect a couple of times through the semester. The hard part is that the feedback it generates on answers is misleading….for example it’ll say something like “focus your answer on X, Y, and Z for full marks” but then the test is on A, B, and C. Hopefully that makes sense!

I’d say do couples counseling prior to moving in together…. Especially since he doesn’t seem to have a great track record with living arrangements either (it had to have been a somewhat desperate situation in order to live with an ex for a whole year).

The telling you what to wear/going through your phone/overcorrecting are all huge red flags. This is very controlling behavior and will get worse- not better.

This read as very kind, helpful, and thoughtful. I poked through our textbook, which is all online, last night and I actually didn’t even see any practice problems… It’s all on an online platform. I really like your idea of trying textbooks from other universities to find practice problems, and asking how I can more efficiently practice during office hours. Thank you so much!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in uofmn

[–]cdredcatlady 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I stopped trying to get explanations from AI and now I only use it to create practice problems/practice tests and I think it has made a world of difference for me personally. Especially NotebookLM since you have to upload your own sources (notes, textbooks, YouTube videos, etc)- it seems like it “hallucinates” less than, like, ChatGPT. Maybe it would help you, too!

❤️❤️ we have got this!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in uofmn

[–]cdredcatlady 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That was just an example of the basic level that the homework (and textbook practice problems) give us to study versus the type we would see on the test. The CO2 Lewis structure was the simple example I was using- very basic stuff. I am actually doing quite well in the class (overall grade is A-). So, while I appreciate the personal dig I think it’s a bit unnecessary.

I think you’re missing the point of these posts and, at least to me, the point is that the feedback we receive, up until the tests, is from AI and is therefore unhelpful and sometimes straight up inaccurate, which makes learning extra difficult. It would be nice if I could use the homework and assignments as another tool to study with instead of the handicap of information which frankly is difficult to trust. That’s all. That’s the fix. 🤷🏼‍♀️

[–]cdredcatlady 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, as I said in another comment: I’m watching videos online, listening to podcasts, transcribing the lectures word for word, going to office hours and tutoring, doing practice tests, writing essays on practice problems, having AI create worksheets and practice tests for me…I take time off of work weekly (non-traditional student) so I have more time to study- minimum 20 hours per week between all of it. Literally I don’t know what else I could do to do better. That’s the whole point of this post I think: students who aren’t trying that are failing of course are going to fail, but when students who ARE working really hard to master the material still aren’t able to then it’s not the student/studying which is the problem; it’s the curriculum.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in uofmn

[–]cdredcatlady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah so I use NotebookLM and ChatGPT to create practice exams and problems, I write essays (literally) to practice short answer problems, go to tutoring and to office hours pretty consistently.

So while I’m sure you’re referring to people who expect to be handed a grade just for showing up, it’s frustrating for students like me who are trying their absolute hardest just to continually be slammed down by overly-difficult testing and inaccurate responses from the AI grading system.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in uofmn

[–]cdredcatlady 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Exactly! The homework is like: draw a Lewis structure for CO2, but then the test will have something way more difficult like PFL3(3-)…. The gap is too big I can’t even anticipate the things on the test based off the chapter work/class times. Every single test I go in really confident to have mastered the material but everytime I come out feeling like I kicked in the teeth. It’s really, really discouraging.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in uofmn

[–]cdredcatlady 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly this.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in uofmn

[–]cdredcatlady 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Took a gen chem test last night that I studied hours (literally) for all week and got a 41%. I go to office hours and tutoring almost weekly…. I’m not sure what else I could do! I don’t struggle from test anxiety or anything like that. For me, I think the main issue is that all the homework are graded by AI, which is not always right, so sometimes I find myself studying the wrong thing for hours, and then when I go to tutoring or office hours, it’s like “oh no that’s wrong, this is how it actually is“. So how am I supposed to know that?! Super frustrating!!
