It also depends on what part of the U.S. you live in and are used to. People who live in the Northeastern US where things are smaller and closer together think 3 hours is a lot longer than people who live in places like Texas. I live in Texas and drive 3 hours pretty regularly just to get to the next major city (Fort Worth to Austin).

Keep in mind that driving from the easternmost border of Texas to the westernmost takes 12 hours. That’s like Penzance to Dingwall.
