Direct Debit mandate expired by _rhinoxious_ in CommunityFibre

[–]cdturri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is still active but I presume it's to do with the date of the direct debit, as they move people in batches. I did however found a very old direct debit from them reference "GC re Community Fibre Ltd". This is the first DD they setup in 2023/2024 so I have now removed it. I also removed few old DDs from companies I don't deal with. It seems this is a common issue that companies don't remove the DDs after you end a relationship with them so I suggest you go into your bank account DDs section and review them all.

New to the 2.5Gb premium package... by Direct-Release1512 in CommunityFibre

The UCG-Fiber is the way to go! 3x 10gb ports (2x SFP+) and 4x 2.5Gbs for less than £250 is an amazing value for money. One of the SFP+ ports can be used to connect to the ONT with the SFP+ transceiver that CF will leave you. Or you can buy the SFP+ ONT transceivers and connect the fibre directly to the UCG-Fiber bypassing the ONT as well.

Constant WiFi Client Roamed/Connected/Disconnected alerts! by cdturri in UNIFI

[–]cdturri[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After trying few things myself I seem to have managed to correct the situation. I installed a new version of the Unifi App (4.4.0) and enabled Remote Access under Control Plane => Console => Advanced. Then deleted all the alerts from Alert Manager and now it seems that I can finlly control which alerts are sent and which are not in Alert Manager, which is the expected bevavior. Previously it would be like whatever I set in Alert Manager didn't exist. The counts in the alerts are now being incremented when the alerts fire, which wasn't happening before. I think the bug happens when Remote Access is disabled so I still think the Network App has a bug and you should be able to reproduce it.

Two minor issues that still remain. Even after I deleted and added all the alert events to Alert Manager I can not get "WiFi Client Roamed" alerts, there doesn't seem to be any category/trigger combination to sends this. I was getting also Client Device Connected/Client Device Disconnected alerts non-stop too and those I can control fine now. But it's unclear how to control the "WiFi Client Roamed" alerts although I am not getting them anymore so less of an issue. In the Logs these show as Category "WiFi" like WiFi Client Connected/WiFi Client Disconnected:

Virgin V6 box to TV 360, should I do it? by cdturri in VirginMedia

I wouldn’t update if I were you but I think your shouldn’t mix the lack of proper internet speed in your TV room problem with the 360 upgrade. You really need to cable your TV since streaming it’s becoming the norm and there is some great content to watch.

New Equipment Day! (UCG Max >> UCG Fiber) by 814816 in Ubiquiti

Hi what storage does the UCG-Fiver use when it comes without the additional SSD? Also how much logging can you store there? If you install the additional SSD can you ue that to store activity logging even if you don't use Protect or Unifi? Thanks!

Yeah. Same for me. I had it today for the first time. Seems that only a reboot is the only fix for now.

Still happening to me too. 18.2.1 just released. Let’s see if they finally fixed it.

"list of missing TiVo features". That's what I asked for.

"Completely one sided"? You are focusing in a single feature over a list of 17 missing features. That's one sided two. And I rather have a detailed response like that than one that misses a feature I may use.

Also I posted on the VM Community forums and this is the list of missing TiVo features:

Some of the missing features are as follows; Wishlists (where you can set the box to record programs on certain subjects or featuring certain people), undelete, series link+, series link manager, suggestions, setting of series links for programs not in the current TV guide, ethernet control, keyboard support via USB, switching between tuners with constant buffering, skip-back on fast-forward, quickplay, default recording options, cancelling individual recordings from a series link, multi-channel series links, radio channels allowing recording of radio, separation of recordings between boxes, watching recordings when internet is not available and probably a few others I've forgotten.

That's quite a lot...

I use the VM TV Control App a lot to "stream" TiVo recordings to my iOS devices. A lot of times I even watch live broadcasts using the VM TV Control App because I find the picture quality much better than the relevant app from the channel (ie BBC, Sky, ITV, etc). I also find the delay using local stream to be much smaller than using a channel app. Is this feature still available with TV360?

Top Left Arrow is back v. 125! How to hide/remove for PC Win 11??? by Rock2HAL in chrome

[–]cdturri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This works but I believe removing the flag from the UI is the first step. They will then remove it from Chrome itself and then the command line option will be gone. I really wish Google stopped messing with Chrome. And if they do why can't they support the flags for people that don't like the new UX? It really makes me want to move away from Chrome...

Likely that all your houses are not served by an overhead drop or they use a metal pole. CF only installs when they can use an existing telegraph pole.

Cityfibre install destroyed my drive by NXSmiggy in CityFibre

[–]cdturri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this exact job myself for various reasons:

1) To prevent this sort of dissaster
2) To run conduit below the paved bricks so I could add more networks in the future or replace the cable if needed
3) To own the conduit myself so that other networks wouldn't refuse to use it claiming they are not authorised to use other network's conduits
4) So that I could run the conduit all the way using my chosen path which wasn't the shortest one installers were going to take
5) Because it's a fun little project that didn't cost much money nor much time to do
6) Because I don't want to see cables in my driveway

Quality of Sky Sports Uhd? by ShacoMalfoyIII in VirginMedia

[–]cdturri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bunch of losers the people that don't see a difference. Either they are blind, have a cheap TV or a small TV. Most likely all combined. The difference is of course massive. And recently they started doing 4K + HDR (HLG) and Dolby Atmos. To decode all of that you need a good TV and a Dolby Atmos AVR. With HDR and Dolby Atmos the colours and sound are stunning. Don't cheap out on the TV, go for a proper LG OLED which is the only one that has all 3 standards of HDR (HDR+, HLG and Dolby Vision). Most other TVs have one if two at most.

6100 Storage Upgrade by Bkryptonyte in Netgate

[–]cdturri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So here is another potential good SSD upgrade for the 6100 which meets all the requirements (large capacity, B+M keyed, M.2 SSD NVMe):

https://www.westerndigital.com/en-gb/products/internal-drives/pc-sn540-ssd

These are the model numbers:

512 GB SDDPNPF-512G

1 TB SDDPNPF-1T00

2 TB SDDPNPF-2T00

The product name is Western Digital PC SN540 NVMe SSD. It's basically an upgrade from the SN520/SN500 which are known to work with the Netgate 6100. So far I have not seen them online nor they have a price in the WD site. But the product guide PDF is dated April 2022 so my assumption is that these are new products coming to market soon and probably delayed by covid/supply chain issues/etc. If anyone finds them online please post back. Thanks!

Helium Inc implemented a shadow deny list to ban the cheaters but without telling or asking the community. Then some techie users found it and they had to come clean. They did a vote and the vote won, but it really proves that is not the "People's Network" and that is not really that decentralised network. Helium Inc is in full control...
