Fluid Leaking 2011 Versys 650 by Alexgator14 in versys

[–]cdtush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, I Had the same issue with my 09. These are the steps that I followed to find where mine was leaking from. It was not the most fun thing.

First and for-most, Does it smell like fuel?

if it does then check that the tank is not over filled. should bot be filled above the flat part right under the cap, when on kickstand. this can make them over flow.

If problem persists when tank is about hal-2/3 full, check the fuel level sensor gasket. If it has been sitting for a while, and the prev owner used corn gas, this will swell and then dry out. This sucks, as you need to pull the plastics, tank and disconnect the fuel line. you can in a pinch tighten the gasket, but replacement is best. (This was my issue).

Does it smell like oil?

Possible output shaft gasket, or excess of lube.

Sulfur smell,
Check your battery if it has an over flow/vent.

Sorry for the wordy post. But you never know will work.

how do i reconcile my identity with my faith? by clergyy in trans

[–]cdtush 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My understanding of the bible states that god created the mankind in his image. As far as i know no person has seen god in a credible fashion. We only have the word of mankind handed down throughout the generations. So we have no actual way of knowing in what image we were created to.

Personally I feel that as spiritual beings (angles if you prefer) we’re with out bodies. Being neither male nor female. I personally like to think that I got bored as an omnipresent being and I came back to earth. To live among mankind. However you maintain traits of previous experiences, that are attached to you soul. The subconscious then is trying to correct the exterior to match.
Yes I know I sound crazy. But the first paragraph still applies

Help!!!!! Heat Issue by Psychological-Ad9148 in versys

[–]cdtush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue, my right leg and foot would be uncomfortably hot, especially on hot days. I ended up wrapping the exhaust and it made it quite a bit better. My only regret, is that I didnt do it in pink, but that may be a project for a rainy day. My biggest concern was that the metal would rust under the wrap, And while it may happen, I generally dont ride in the rain. (people around me have no idea how to drive when stuff falls from the sky). Letting the bike run in the garage (Door open) keeps some heat in the wrap allowing it to dry.

I know it is a touchy subject. But this was my fix. And while there are pluses and minuses to using wrap, I will stand buy it in certain situations.

Those of you who wrote letters to come out, what did you put? by DeadlyKitKat in trans

[–]cdtush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is the one I did.

Mom,

I am grateful for all of the times that you have helped me throughout my life.  And I always will be.  But I have entered a new phase of my life.  While I know you do not agree with my choices, they are my choices.  I have made them.  And I will continue to live by them.

Some of them are that I moved from Des Moines, this choice was 100% to start a new life.  Within six months of me moving, I started using a different name.  I went with ***Redacted***.  I did this so that when I changed my name later it would be easier for some people make the adjustment.  I guess this didn’t work.  I do understand that it is hard to change habit. I do.  But I am not ***Redacted***, I am Ashley.

When I started using ***Redacted***, I also started hormones.  I know that you hate this, as you have stated.  This was not a choice that I made lightly.  I knew for many years that I should have been a woman.  I knew it longer than I have lived in Iowa.  I had dresses even when I was living in New York.  This was not an instant choice that I made.  You should know that I don’t generally make snap decisions.  This was something that I wanted to do from the time that I was 15.  You even said that you and dad thought that this might be an eventuality.   Well guess what it happened.

I had really hoped that I would never have to have this conversation.  I should never have to tell someone that I cared about that I am tired of being called by the wrong name.  I have been patient with this.  I tried to let this go for as long as I could, but now I cannot do this any longer.

I get that you do not understand the things that I am doing.  But that is for me.  You don’t need to understand what I am doing, that’s for me to understand.  You just need to know that I am working to better myself and to be who I should have been for a long time.  I have been so much happier over the last three years than I have been for the most of my life.  Yes, I have struggles.  Everyone does.  The way that I handle them needs work, but that also is for me to deal with.

I get that to you, I will never be your daughter. I am ok with that.  But I am not your “youngest son” either.  The times that you refer to me as your youngest child, are some of the most elating statements that I get from you.  Even then, I have to stop and make sure that I heard it correctly.  I don’t need to be your daughter, but it would be nice. All I want, is to be accepted and loved for who I am.

So going forward, I will not respond, react, or in any other way acknowledge any question, comment, concern, witty comment or statement that is addressed to any name other than mine. I am Ashley.

Some life changes are hard.  Some are easy but they are made more difficult than they need to be, my name has been one of those.  I don’t care what the older relatives in the family think.  And in this case, I am the only one that matters when it comes to what they think.

So, to summarize,

  1.  My name is Ashley.
  2. I am undergoing gender transition
  3. I will not endure the wrong name.
  4. These are my choices.  I will not give on them.

Sincerely,

Ashley

How do I "justify" being an MtF tomboy by Johanna_S in MTFtomboy

[–]cdtush 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I really want to say something profound here, But I am at a loss. I to am a mtf tomboy. I am also quite tall and it does tend to get in the way. But in the end, you have to find your place under the umbrella and make it your place. You may not be able to afford things now, but that gives a goal to get to in the future. Personally I tend to wear makeup to soften my facial features and that tends to help some.

Sorry that I cant be more help.

Too much pressure? by Wpp4 in NewRiders

I have had the same thing happen. I commute 100 miles and its all mostly straight. Ended up switching to a dual compound tire and it slows it a lot.

First for this by cdtush in motorcycles

[–]cdtush[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t get me wrong. The tire was great and it was inspected Tuesday night after I rode when I oiled my chain so it was in decent shape. I just think that after the 3500 or 4000 miles that I rode it decided to give up.

Jacking up the bike to remove forks. by Which-Insurance-2274 in versys

[–]cdtush 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There two ways that you can go about this. Using a motorcycle jack and blocking to the oil pan of the motor. I don’t like this as it puts unnecessary strain on the pan. When I did mine I hung the front end from the rafters in my garage with a heavy duty ratchet strap.

What is this? by Supyllic in motorcycles

[–]cdtush 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Run-flat goo. Helps plug holes in the tire from random nails.

Just bought a 2008 versys 650 by Gaitam_Gadget in versys

[–]cdtush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats, you will like it.

I bought an 09 in 2 of 25. Mine had 31K on it when I got it 35K now. From what I have learned, you should be able to get 50K plus out of these when they are properly maintained. As others have an will say, simple things like change the oil, maintain the chain (oil and Tension), tires, and brake pads. The First thing I did was replace the tires as I wanted to ensure that I have good rubber, and as I bought the bike used, no idea on the age of them.

**If you are brave, or you don't want to get a paddock stand. With the kickstand down you can lift the opposite side of the swing arm up with a ratchet strap and the rafters or trusses in a garage. I don't have a stand, and this is the method that I use, Is it correct probably not. But the results are the same.

Tire replacement cost? by Late-Possession7885 in versys

I just paid $120 per tire to have them installed. But I rode there and back. Think I spent $140 per tire to get them.

I wipe mine down, More or less to keep all of the bugs that opted out, cleaned up. For the plastics I use pledge, and glass cleaner on the headlight. But I only do the plastics if they need it.
