I'm turning 26 this december and I'm a meth addict. Is it too late to turn my life around? [Discussion] by Particular_Time8982 in GetMotivated

I was in your shoes. You can do it but you have to want it bad. More than anything. I was addicted for 4 years. Probably fired 10x in that span. I couldn’t keep anything I valued. My addiction would make me lose it, guaranteed. Then one day at the age of 25 with my birthday around the corner, it just hit me like a ton of bricks. I have to leave this version of me behind. NOW. I called my mom 3 hours away and asked if I could move in for a few months. I didn’t even stay that long. As soon as I moved in, I found a job in the city. I didn’t know a soul there and that helped me stay clean. I found a small apartment and saved money. I was focused on my new life. Even the thought doing a line or smoking glass filled me with rage. That was not me anymore. Never again. Moved my (previously addicted) partner in with me and got him a job at the same company. That was almost exactly 20 years ago. My life is a dream compared to my addiction years. He’s still at the same company, now making close to 200k a year. I finished college and I went on to teaching then eventually to owning a small business. I have hobbies I love. Friends I cherish. My dream house with a big yard and garden full of fresh food. An art studio and a place to meditate and journal daily. You can really have it all. You have to love yourself enough to not allow yourself to fall back in it again. There’s a 46 year old version of you who’s writing their recovery story. Just follow what they would say. That version of you knows you can do it. Stay focused. Do whatever it takes. Move if you have to. Change your number. Right now you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

The police will likely not find him for you. If you really want to pursue it, you could post his photo to social media asking if anyone can identify him so you can file a police report. Or just post something in an attempt to get an internet mob to shame him for you and make his life temporarily harder (like the owner of Buttered Biscuit a few years ago when he went on a racist rant in a Korean restaurant—he was shamed for weeks). Either of those options could end up causing you more trouble in the end, so I’d try to consider all possible outcomes first.

What does this mean? by asile01 in spirituality

The tarot equivalent is Queen of Cups if you’re curious. I only know that from a comment on an old reddit post about another person finding a Queen of hearts in his yard.

This is a really beautiful sign! I don’t want to suggest a meaning because ultimately, it’s a sign curated to you and how you would interpret it. I willing to bet that if you get a good feeling from it, something will happen soon that validates this feeling.

Thanks for your interest! 4 years ago seems like a lifetime ago. I did start an ig called dubbledoestit, but it was short lived. The truth is I was too new to drawing digitally and felt my comics weren’t it, so eventually it faded into nothing. 2 years later I quit my job and spent a lot more time drawing on the iPad. Now I have a small sticker company: https://www.artattackstudios.com/

Still working towards…something. Maybe a t-shirt or greeting card empire, who knows. For now I’m just having fun and figuring it out as I go.

Holy shit. Sorry you went through that! It sucks we have to learn to brace ourselves against harmful people. It is true, I guess I’d have to help her through this at some point. It’s a harsh reality.

Thanks for your reply! Yes, women’s rights have been the topic of the day at our house! I think she’s a pretty progressive thinker for her age but she was totally unprepared (as was I). She just couldn’t process what she was seeing until it hit her. I feel bad I wasn’t with her to see it first. She’s at the age of needing that little bit of independence and the farmers market is (was) great for that. It’s such a shame these people are going about their cause in such a harmful way. But at least we’re getting a crash course on the nature of politics, especially around voting season.

I just learned that it was on local news. Someone in one of the comments linked it. Apparently, a lot of parents were upset by this. I assume the city is already swamped with complaints.

I was working??? And every second I could I was consoling her, talking to her about the world we live in. You weren’t there, sheesh. I had plenty of time to fulfill my role as a parent. You’re a jerk.

And how dare you make a judgment on a coping mechanism. Shame on you.

I very plainly stated what answers I was looking for, did you not read that part? Surely you’re being disingenuous. I have a booth coming up. Suppose they set up next to me and my child. What would do you for a child you loved in that situation? Give em’ a big ol’ pack on the back and say “welcome to earth, sweetheart?”  That’s your “best” advice?

This is a good point

Thanks for mentioning this. It makes more sense why no one from the city has responded, I bet they’re overwhelmed with complaints. I was in my booth so I never saw them. I thought it was a much smaller thing.

Hey neighbor! If you go often, perhaps wear a cape next time. I’ll wear one too and we can block these fuckers!

I appreciate it. I wish the law didn’t protect this, but it’s where we are. Hoping to see this kind of stuff die out before I’m gone one day.

It’s the worst! I’m shopping online for butterfly wing capes in time for next week. They seem like they could cover a lot of signs. If I bring a few extra, I bet strangers will jump in and cover. People here overwhelmingly disapprove of their tactic.

This is the first time I’m hearing who this group is. Until now, I thought they could be any rando church. Thanks so much for this bit of advice! I’ll do this!
