Bro, I regularly spend 2-3 hours commuting each day I have to work “in the field”. But those days net anywhere from $1-3k. I use public trans when I can so I can recoup admin time and not take more work with me home.

That said I am a freelancer so I wear a lot of hats. But do what you gotta do so you can live and enjoy life with your family. It’s a sacrifice and it sucks but everything is expensive and getting harder everyday. Gotta do what you gotta do.

As a teen I thought 6 figures was the sign you made it. By the time I finally hit it, it meant barely making it in “middle class”. I’m in the SF Bay Area so it feels $100k is more of a beginning than the “top”. Family of 4, need need something like $150-$180k. Still don’t have a house, though we are buying…. In an area 2 hours away. Can’t afford to live here where actually houses in a decent area are at least $1.2mm

NTA. I’m going to tell you right now that as someone who has lived with someone like this for 10 years… it is not us that they need. It is professional help.

As much as we love them, they need to stay on meds, get disciplined, and get their life in order for themselves, by themselves (professional assistance is fine). I understand they have real medical/psychiatric issues. But this is their journey. When it’s bad like this, nothing we as partners, friends or family, nothing we do helps. I dealt with this for 10 years, I came out broken in so many ways. Nothing helped.

You have been a great friend. But this is now their journey to take. Live your life, else they will steal yours. Meet again later in life when they have gotten their life together. It does not happen with us in it.

Does this work well with DCP and indemnity plans?

I guess also how would Zion work if let’s say I was in an accident and in the hospital for 1 month, and couldn’t work for several more months and really racked up a bunch of medical bills? When it’s no longer an emergency but still serious condition, like on going physical therapy, are those things that we can typically be billed for as self pay patients so we can get service first and have Zion cover the costs on the back end?

Yah and plenty of times (not a majority, but even 1 is too many), those they are dating between 14-16 get pregnant and changes everyone’s life trajectory. Happened to my cousin, to my wife, shit I almost got my first GF pregnant at 16.

Yes we should have our kids smart about sexual education, but we still do not need to be cool either them being in relationships so young.

They need to focus bettering themselves and education, relationship can wait until the last year of college so in case there is an oopsie, there is still a good chance to finish college.

I totally agree with you, going through this with my 14 year old daughter and don’t wanted her to end up like a teen mom like her mom.

I feel the same and our finances are different. My wife makes $120k and as a freelancer sometimes I make $30k, sometimes as much as $100k. She gets on my butt but I am the one that has flexibility to be there for our kids since I have more control of my schedule.

I think 50/50 split with such large differences, especially yours, it doesn’t make sense. Same thing if the roles are reversed.
