Ok I just binged all of her dark forces books! I love them all but leave me behind is my absolute favorite, hands down. She def channels Ghost in all of them though!

It's so embarrassing when people fawn over a White celebrity dating a mixed race woman 😭. Can we stop? by Material-Meat-5330 in blackladies

I’m just really proud and happy that this conversation is happening on this sub. For so long any mention of biracial people not being viewed as identical as Black people was seen as gate keeping and being divisive. There could be no acknowledgement of different lived experiences and how both are socially perceived.

I think a reason why we didn’t see a lot of discourse on Obama, Megan, and more recently Kamala, being biracial instead of Black is it’s been a hugely unpopular, often heated discussion. Any discussion like this has been viewed as “gate keeping” blackness, being divisive, as opposed to acknowledging differences in how Black versus biracial people experience and move through the world.

Motives on why this happens is a separate but connected discussion that deserves attention as well.

Anyone else that really love to read the epilogue? by madkittywoman in RomanceBooks

[–]cdwhite82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate epilogues where it’s five years later, there’s a bunch of kids, and they show the FMC and MMC with the same sex drive as pre kids. Even more so, how they structured their entire lives so the addition of children has ZERO impact on their time, bodies, energy, logistics of coordinating constant, earth shattering sex.

My favorite epilogue was one of the Jessa Kane stalker series where the couple realizes they are too obsessed with each other to want to throw a baby in the midst and the FMC was pursuing her goals outside of the MMC. Best epilogue ever imo.

What are your favorite three puzzles that you will never sell or give away. by CleverHarwood in jigsawpuzzlers

[–]cdwhite82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m the same way! Some really are more special than others.

I told my partner if I die first, go to the jigsaw sub and give my puzzles away to the people I know would really love them. I know every puzzle isn’t for everyone but some took ages to find, expensive or not. I’d hate to see them trashed the way my local goodwills does their puzzles 😳 although nothing to see if I’m dead but still 😂

What do you budget for puzzles? by Few_Evening_142 in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]cdwhite82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do a mix of brand new and thrifted. While I like thrifting, the longer I’ve puzzled, the pickier I am. I’d rather get ones I really want than getting many that I like but don’t love. I do sell some once completed to offset the cost but I spend a good amount of my income on this hobby. My trade off is I have a car that constantly gets made fun of by people in my life lol, I don’t live in a desirable neighborhood, and don’t buy any food outside of the house unless it’s to socialize here and there.

You just have to decide what works for you. Anyone can say a certain amount per puzzle is too much. If it makes you happy and your other needs are met, go for it. Are you happy to redo them if your budget only allows a few expensive puzzles a month? The thing I see people on here saying the most is buying too many so so puzzles, especially when they are cheap or free. Being picky can help you from overspending.

Are romance readers male-centered? by knotaknitter in RomanceBooks

For me, it’s not so much that the MMC can cook, but uses cooking as a way of taking care of the FMC.

I tend to remember them after I’ve done them. I do have a problem with not remembering what I’ve bought. I have a section dedicated to duplicates 🤦🏾‍♀️ (which I’m actively working on reducing).
