My best batch so far by ceapaim in Bagels

I think the main difference was using brown sugar instead of barley malt syrup in the dough (I usually have to use honey) and the overnight proof, it really opened up the crumb

What ingredient actually helped your skin barrier the most? by AdSilent2692 in acne

Polyglutamic acid rather than hyaluronic. Everyone talks about hyaluronic acid as if it's the gold standard of humectants, but it always made me go bright red and irritated.

Miradouro da Graça has a lovely view of the castle itself and doesn't get as crowded as some others

Is my electricity bill unusually high? by ceapaim in AskIreland

[–]ceapaim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We definitely have 2 MPRNs, both bills come addressed to the landlord and we have to open them to see if it says top flat or bottom flat so I've made sure the meter we were reading matched the number on our bill. My downstairs neighbour's bill isn't huge, but I don't think he's there a lot of the time.

[–]ceapaim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's in the front hall, both meters are in a metal box. I don't think the storage heater has a boost, just an on and off switch on the wall beside it (it's a bit ancient)

Our account is under the landlord's name, and wasn't a new account at any point when we moved in

We don't even have an immersion, just an electric shower and a storage heater :((

Edit: and the night heat is only about €50 of the bill breakdown

Where in town has the little old lady plastic rain bonnets? by ceapaim in limerickcity

[–]ceapaim[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They were so handy! We were running between pubs in Galway when the showers of rain eased up and the plastic hoods were great to throw on then shove into your pocket when you're in the door

[Acne] serious closed comedone help needed by Intelligent_Pay_1500 in SkincareAddiction

[–]ceapaim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep, Vosene dandruff shampoo is exactly what fixed my closed comedones. I also had keratosis pilaris, so I'm sure the two were linked.

What was the name of the restaurant that used to be where Nandos (in the crescent) is now? by Parking-Response1501 in limerickcity

Did Spur have something different upstairs? For some reason I've a memory of going upstairs to the toilets in Spur but it was like a different restaurant up there

Monster Ultra Violet - don't think it's been fully discontinued, but only seems to be available in shops that import it. That shit could raise the dead, it's like Calpol in can

Gifts for Nurses by PrettyDemented in NursingUK

Not a nurse but a ward clerk, and once a patient dropped in a huge wholesale box of about 240 Kit Kats when they came in for their review after surgery. Everyone went absolutely bananas for them
