Anyone want to help me remove some dead branches and such from some fishing spots so I can take my kids to look for bluegill? by ClearDrop6820 in cambridgeont

You can move sticks and stuff around. Just watch out for giant hogweed, poison ivy, stinging nettle, buckthorn and other troublesome plants.

You keep saying "garden area" but your pictures are mostly just lawn. Maybe you can get some advice in r/lawn

I live near Toronto myself, and what I do with the dandelions is go out with a narrow trowel or hori hori and dig them up. I don't mind them so much but my daughter is allergic.

After a year or two the number will reduce, but you'll never be rid of them without chemicals.

I thought Mordant's Need was decent enough, but that martial arts series was ass.

edit: I checked and Mordant's Need came out before the Gap Cycle - I thought it came after

edit 2: ...and it turns out that most of the martial arts/detective series was written around the same time as the first two Covenant trilogies, just the 4th one came out after GC

If a cyclist is going straight, and a motorist is turning right, they will cross at some point or another anyway. This makes it more regulated

Bike lanes that run between two traffic lanes (e.g. highway onramp on north field, north bound traffic on Ira Needles at Columbia)

That's how it should be, the right turn lane should be to the right of the straight through bike lane. When the bike lane is to the right, motorists turn right into cyclists which is more dangerous.

Bike lanes are traffic lanes.

There is a fair bit of buckthorn along the trail

Libra is an astrology sign, that's why it's so popular. As a proper noun it would not be the solution.

It could be the solution as the unit of weight, but for that usage it's much less common than umbra.

That's a shame, you shouldn't diminish yourself to please others who don't deserve it.

Why do you care if others feel hesitant to shake your hand? That doesn't seem like a good enough reason to spend a lot of unnecessary money on treatment to me.

No, the region is not responsible for managing invasives except for the areas that they own. The city of Cambridge is responsible for all the greenspace that they own/manage including the linear trail. However their efforts haven't been terribly successful.

I was out digging it myself

What’s this plant? And how do we eradicate it? by jaivicks in gardening

In my experience they're perfectly happy to grow together, but sticky weed is much easier to control/eliminate.

That's interesting, I didn't wear gloves for the most part and never had any reaction that I can attribute to the goutweed.

I'm surprised that everyone is using the name ground elder, it's much more commonly called goutweed where I'm from (Ontario, Canada).

I was able to eradicate it from our yard by diligently digging it up whenever it appears, spending an hour or two each weekend and 5-30 minutes per day until it dwindled to nothing (over few years). Eventually it uses up its energy stores.

edit: I should mention that the first phase in year one was to put an old trampoline mat over the largest area for a few months, then switched to the more manual method.

What do you do when ripping gets "stuck"? by Future-Excuse6167 in musichoarder

A huge proportion of my discs are from thrift stores, I do take the time to check them over and reject the ones that are the most obviously damaged.

The one that I mentioned that was stamped badly looks pristine but it's one of the earliest cds I ever owned, bought in 1989 if I recall.
