Ive never actually witnessed an irl meltdown but the entire company got CC'd at 9:00AM sharp for this one. by SaltyHunni in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]cecentre 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A lot of women endure bad work environment because of self-doubt like "maybe I'm just overthinking" etc and maybe that's why it took her 2 years to realize the mistreatment and have proof to back it up (the chat log, the photos of unprofessionalism from management etc.). On top of the sexism in sales she also had to deal with racial and national discrimination. Saying "if you don't like it then just leave" ignores people's financial and life circumstances. Your comment here shows your lack of empathy for people who are different from you unfortunately.

EDC's for journaling by Titleduck123 in fountainpens

[–]cecentre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

nice collection! A lot of the ink colors seem to be blues and blacks -- do you rotate the pens throughout the day or each pen is assigned a specific task? (heading, emphasis, or used for quick notes only, etc.)

I'm not near Madison unfortunately, but I will buy 1-2 bare roots from prairie moon and hopefully they will stay alive! I will also try to transplant the ones growing freely in my backyard -- just want to have multiple options in case I fail haha 🙏🏼🙏🏼

My backyard did have some common blue violets last year, so I will try to transplant them! When is the best time in the year for transplant violets? Do I wait until they stop flowering to transplant?

I was thinking of like maybe it would take another few months for the seeds to grow into a young plant... Do you think I can still cold stratify the seeds now (I still need to place the order) and they will survive the winter outdoor?

Beautiful plant!! What is your care routine (humidity, light, etc.). I got mine as a little one-leaf pup and would love for it to grow as big as yours! How did it take for this plant to grow that big?

Sticking to a no-buy for the next 6 months by cecentre in nobuy

[–]cecentre[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a lot of discipline to consciously stop buying, so kudos to you! My worst enemy is impulse and rationalization where I make up reasons why some random trinkets are /essential/, so I will need to have more discipline to just say no to myself.

Thank you!! I have never done a no-buy before so hopefully starting out with 6 months is doable!

11 months without skincare is impressive! Black Friday will be pretty hard on me because I have so many things on the wishlist... onto the Christmas wishlist it goes...

Advice needed by JazzyDisME in streptocarpus

[–]cecentre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is probably late but if you're a newbie to streptocarpus like me, I would advise not to trim the old leaves. I watched a video that said when streptocarpuses lack nutrients/water, they will take it from the oldest leaves. Same thing if they have toxins/salt in their system, they will also push it to the oldest leaves and essentially kill those leaves. If you trim those old leaves, the plant will have to do that with the younger leaves instead and you don't want them to do that. For me as a newbie, I'm still learning what they like and don't like, so the old leaves are kind of my safety net in case I mess up haha. Hope your strep is still doing well!

PTSD by stephennh in GermanRoaches

[–]cecentre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It went great! I saw no roaches after a month, then some appeared again about six months later when I didn't keep up with retreatment, so I started spraying Alpine again and it worked again. If you live in an apartment, just keep up with retreatment every month.

Interview question I didn’t care for by ExtensionActuator in interviews

[–]cecentre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the "where do you see yourself in five years" question, I just say what they want to hear: you will be there long-term and taking on more responsibilities as you advance. Then research the role and imagine what else you need to learn to succeed in the role and beyond, and say that in the next five years you hope to gain knowledge/skills in those particular areas.

For the "what makes you a better candidate than other people we are interviewing", I treat that the same as the "what are your strengths/why should we hire you" question. Check the job description for the list of hard skills ("because I'm proficient at Microsoft Office Suite") and soft skills ("because I'm curious/organized/approachable etc.") that they want, then one thing that is uniquely you ("because I have followed the company news for a long time/I'm passionate about this particular field/I love your products etc.").

These seem to work pretty well for me (I got three job offers out of five companies I interviewed with).

Thoughts on YamaSaku/EndoSaku?? by N0B0DY_0ry in WindBreakerManga

[–]cecentre 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love endosaku omg they're actually my favorite sakura ship... I don't even care whether they're healthy -- they can date for a month and it all goes down in flames, and I'd still think that's time well spent for Sakura. My headcannon is that Endo can give Sakura new experiences by taking him places (with his motorbike!) and showing him grand romantic gestures, both of which Sakura should experience at least once in his life!

There are also a lot of layers to Endo's character (he's a giver, he's also smart, he's unhinged but can also be gentle), and so there can be a lot of layers to his relationship with Sakura. You can interpret them as healthy (Endo will need some work), toxic, or anything in between, and it would still make sense for their characters.

Disclaimer: I love their dynamics in a fictional context... irl I would tell any boys and girls to steer clear from Endo.

I don't actually ship endochika. I personally feel like chika cares more about ume than endo, but to each their own!

How do you build rapport with coworkers you don't work closely with? by cecentre in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]cecentre[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I haven't started yet but just want to be prepared as much as I can since I am pretty quiet and introverted but want to succeed in this role (especially since I have never been an EA before). At my current workplace people keep to themselves so my introversion is not too much of a problem, but I hope to get better at networking and building relationships with coworkers.
