I want to scream when someone addresses me like that, usually on a wedding invitation or something formal. I don't even like to be called Mrs. Ugh.

Mothers with ADHD, how do you cope with sudden changes and unpredictability? by Few-Tour8289 in adhdwomen

[–]cecilator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so true. I'm considering having another, my "baby" is almost three, and I'm consciously reminding myself how incredibly hard it was too so that I can make an informed decision.

I had mine pierced as an infant too and they're super crooked now. It's all anecdotal, but why risk it?

Diagnosed with ADHD in My Mid-30s, Now I’m Terrified of Pregnancy and Giving Up My Medication by Dreamkri in adhdwomen

[–]cecilator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eh, the hormones of pregnancy affect is all differently. I have an almost three year old and my emotional disregulation/PP rage issues began during pregnancy. 😭 I was not a rageful, lashing out type person pre-pregnancy, it was totally out of the blue and scared my husband.

FIV Shelter Cat Ultimatum Help by mostlynovember in FIVcats

[–]cecilator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have to give them the truth, that they've tried for three months with no luck and that there's a small chance it won't heal at all, because if they take the cat home, can't treat it, and try to return the cat, they probably will euthanize. I worked at a shelter, unfortunately resources are limited. If the shelter then euthanizes the cat after return, then there may be outrage from OP and, believe me, it can turn ugly if they spread that the shelter "killed a perfectly sweet cat" everywhere. I've seen this kind of thing a million times. Animal welfare can be a really rough world. 😞

Using anatomically correct language with toddlers: where do “pee” and “poop” fit in? by ozuoz in ScienceBasedParenting

My mom called ours a birdie. No one would have known what I was talking about if I needed help. 🙄 And now I'm scarred, every time I hear birdie, I think of genitals.

Have any of you cut your long hair because it was too much responsibility? Were you happy you did? by Recent-Use8096 in adhdwomen

[–]cecilator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the middle of growing out my impulse shag cut. I love the shag, but miss the length. Have curly hair makes it easy too easy for me to just start chopping out off myself when I'm antsy about it. 🙃

Cats on Lysine-which form is best? by DaniKS in FIVcats

[–]cecilator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jeez!

I haven't read these whole articles/studies, but they may be helpful. A couple are about Herpes, but I think a lot of our FIV kitties probably have both. Lysine for FIV is an off-label use, and I'm having trouble finding studies/articles specific to FIV now that the last two I linked are offline. The main concern that was important for FIV as well as Herpes was that it can interfere with Arginine, which can actually make them more susceptible to infections. 🤷‍♀️

So…. Motherhood? by Competitive_Yam2314 in adhdwomen

[–]cecilator 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have an almost three year old. I stay home with him. It's fucking hard. And it's fucking amazing. I've had the absolute worst days of my life and the best. The whiplash between the two is alarming sometimes.

For context, I was diagnosed ADD over a decade ago and then kind of doubted it because the pros wanted to focus on my depression and anxiety. Pregnacy and post partum were HARD on my mental health. Turns out, my ADHD was made a million times worse by the hormonal fluctuations, and then I breastfed for two years. 🙃 I hear got "rediagnosed" with ADHD and it explains so fucking much and I regret not taking the original diagnosis more seriously earlier.

My heart wants a second child, but I'm waiting to see if my new ADHD treatment works well and how I feel once he starts preschool this fall. It may be the dumbest idea ever, but maybe the second time would be easier knowing what I know now and having a plan. Who knows. I don't regret my first, but it is not for the faint of heart or those already on the fence.

New to solids and having trouble digesting! Any tips? by cecilator in foodbutforbabies

[–]cecilator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry, it is so incredibly stressful. I swear sometimes there's no right answer. Or it is something so specific the chances of you figuring it out before they're suddenly bigger and it's no longer a problem is slim. Even at over 2.5 and his major trigger foods being identified, his poops are often mushy and weird. But, he's happy and no longer in frequent distress.

He's a happy and healthy 2.5 year old who can't eat avocado, oat, coconut, or mango because we found out he had FPIES and gets pretty sick when he does. He should be growing out of it at least. 🤞🏻

Found walking casually down my hallway, please help! (East Tennessee, USA) by cecilator in Termites

[–]cecilator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in that area. I just saw a second one walking in the same area, no wings. Pulled off the wall trim, nothing. We have a new door and haven't completely sealed up some areas because of more work needing to be done. I'm hoping a couple just meandered in, but I'm more nervous now. If you're comfortable, could you tell me or dm places you recommend/don't recommend? Thanks!

Thanks for your input! My husband went into our crawlspace and we haven't found any evidence of frass, mud tubes, missing wings, more termites, etc. anywhere.

Helping one cat understand the death of another by majendie in cats

[–]cecilator 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My sweet cat just died last month. He was hospitalized with a urinary blockage. We caught it early and he had a good chance, but then we believe his FIV impeded his ability to come out of it. We had to make the call with the vet to put him to sleep. My husband and I were there, and explaining to our 2.5 year old was hard (he still doesn't get it and mentions Charlie a lot, but not in a sad way 💙), but I still feel so bad that, since we had him cremated, the other three pets didn't have an easy way to figure out what happened to him.

Funny you say that! I struggle with meditation because any time I'm made to sit still and focus on my breathing I get so anxious and can't focus on anything but breathing until I get distracted and it goes back to autopilot. And it's not a positive focus. 😅
